Wigan To Beat Ipswich 1-0

Matt Le Tissier tips Wigan to Edge Ipswich when the pair meet at the DW Stadium in the Championship this evening

After a weekend of surprises in the Premier League, Matt Le Tissier turns his attention to tonight’s Wigan v Ipswich Championship clash for his latest football tip.

Wigan’s form has dipped in the last couple of weeks with a 3-1 loss away to Blackburn followed by a bore-draw at Huddersfield last Tuesday. They’ve faired much better at the DW Stadium this season though, winning their last two games there without conceding a goal and Uwe Rösler will be hoping to extend Wigan’s unbeaten home run to four games this evening.

Ipswich have also been good at home lately with 2-0 wins over Millwall and Brighton lifting them into the top half of the Championship. However, it’s away form which is a concern for the Tractor Boys having not yet won on the road this season and Ipswich do not have the best of records in this fixture.

Matt Le Tissier Tips: “I can see this being a close game with goals possibly hard to come by. Wigan should edge it, so Coral’s 23/20 can be snapped up, but I fancy a sporting bet on the 1-0 Correct Score at 7/1 with William Hill.”

Wigan have won 6 of their last 7 matches against Ipswich in all competitions, including keeping a clean sheet in the last three encounters at this venue. They could line up with more attacking intent as they look to get back to winning ways with the onus on them to attack as the home side.

There have been under 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Ipswich’s last 10 away games in Championship, a stat which also applies to their last three visits to the DW Stadium. New signings Darren Ambrose and Cameron Stewart may have to settle for a spot on the bench as Mick McCarthy is unlikely to make any major changes to his lineup.
