The reigning champions can see the title sliding from their grasp as they try to claw back the 15 points deficit to leaders Manchester United and with only 33 points to play for, it looks an improbable task for Roberto Mancini’s side.

The Blues gave Villa a 5-0 drubbing at the Etihad Stadium in November and won this fixture 1-0 last season but have been unconvincing in their most recent away games at QPR where they drew 0-0 and at Southampton last time when losing 3-1.

Matt Le Tissier believes Man City’s belief in winning the Premier League must be slipping ahead of the clash at Aston Villa tonightMatt Le Tissier tips: “Considering Aston Villa are at home and Manchester City have been quite poor by their standards away, the 13/2 with bet365 for a Villa win does look over-priced. The belief in the City camp must be slipping away now and, while I think they should win tonight, they might take a while to break their opponents down. I’d have a small bet on under 2.5 goals at 6/5 with Paddy Power and also the draw/Man City result in the half-time/full-time market at 15/4 with BetVictor.”

Villa’s youngsters have been nervy in front of their disgruntled home fans and were relieved to snap a streak of four successive home defeats when beating West Ham 2-1 in their last game at Villa Park. With fellow relegation candidates Reading, Wigan and Southampton all losing at the weekend, Paul Lambert’s men have the chance to climb out of the drop zone if they can pick up at least a point.
