Matt’s Weekend Treble
The Champions League final is set up to be a belter. As you probably know it’s the first time two sides from the same city have ever contested the showpiece and it will be an extraordinary story if Atletico Madrid pull off a famous La Liga/European Cup double against their neighbours Real Madrid.
Having been available at 100/1 to win La Liga at the start of the season and around 50/1 to win the Champions League, Diego Simeone’s men have belittled their position in those markets to stand on the brink of a phenomenal achievement, made all the better considering they lack the squad size and limited budget of their rivals.
They go into this game as the 10/3 outsiders with Betfred with Real Madrid available at 21/20 with BetVictor. Madrid are of course after their 10th European Cup and with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo set to start after shrugging off injury niggles I’m expecting them to win.
Atletico have been on the go a long time and I’m not sure they can find another immense performance which they’ll need, especially with star man Diego Costa a major doubt. Real eased off in their last few league games with this becoming the overwhelming priority.
I fancy a few goals and Bale can crown a fantastic debut season in the Spanish capital with a good performance. Atletico have won just two of their last 30 meetings with their neighbours and should find them too hard to beat once more.
Bale is a very fair 11/5 with bet365 to score anytime and the 3-1 correct score appeals at a massive 20/1 with BetVictor.
There’s also some big domestic games at Wembley with the play-off finals. Often referred to as the richest game in world football, Queens Park Rangers and Derby will be playing for a place in the Premier League tomorrow afternoon in the Championship play-off final.
Derby have been terrific during the second half of the season but I have a few doubts on how they will handle the big occasion. Harry Redknapp has loads of experience in preparing for big games and it’s a little surprising to see his side as the underdogs for this one.
I’ll take them to overcome the Rams at 27/11 with 888Sport. Again, the 3-1 correct score looks tempting at 33/1 with Coral. A double on the correct scores from tomorrow’s big games pays a massive 714/1 with BetVictor. Worth a quid!
I also like the look of Rotherham on Sunday to take care of Leyton Orient in the League One play-off final. The Millers have lost only two of the last 19 meetings between the pair and they were impressive when beating Preston 4-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
Coral’s free bet prize is still up for grabs and is now at £100. To win the lot, simply tweet @freebets your correct score predictions for the Champions League final and the Championship play-off final using the #challengeMatt. I’ve gone 3-1 to Real and 3-1 to QPR.
