Napoli vs Lazio Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips
Napoli remain Serie A leaders despite the rampant form of reigning champions Juventus. The Old Lady have conceded one goal in their last 15 games but have failed to shift Napoli. Still one point clear at the top, they face third-placed Lazio this weekend in what should be an open game. Three of their last five meetings have produced at least three goals.
Benevento were the latest team to fall victim to this stylish Napoli side. Maurizio Sarri’s men overcame the relegation battlers with a comfortable 2-0 win. Lorenzo Insigne was unlucky to be denied by the crossbar early on in the game, the diminutive forward trying his luck with a delightful chip. Clearly, it was an attempt that stuck in the mind of teammate Dries Mertens, who succeeded shortly afterwards with his own chip attempt from an acute angle. Marek Hamsik, who recently overtook Diego Maradona as the club’s all-time top scorer, got the second.
Lazio were flying until a few short weeks ago. Previously scoring goals for fun, Simone Inzaghi’s side came a cropper at the San Siro late last month. Genoa made it back-to-back defeats for Lazio when they travelled to the Olympic Stadium in the most recent round of Serie A fixtures. A stoppage-time winner from the visitors left Lazio stunned after their 22 attempts wielded just the one goal. They won’t expect to find much more joy against a Napoli side that have conceded 14 goals in 23 games.
