New Look England To Start With Win
England To Win To Nil
Wayne Rooney takes over the captain’s arm band relinquished by Steven Gerrard and the England boss turns to the younger players to build for Euro 2016. Everton full-back John Stones makes his England debut with Jordan Henderson and Jack Wilshire set to be the lynch pins in midfield.
The full line-up for Wednesday’s friendly against Norway is Joe Hart, Stones, Phil Jones, Gary Cahill, Leighton Baines, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere, Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge, Wayne Rooney.
The England boss is hoping the youngsters have learned from their experience in Brazil and can ‘step up to the plate’ ahead of the European Championship qualifying campaign which begins against Switzerland on Monday.
Matt Le Tissier tips: “It’s a fresh start for England after a disappointing World Cup in Brazil and Roy Hodgson has named a strong team for the friendly against Norway.
The Three Lions have a youthful look and I can see them being quite adventurous with the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere and Raheem Sterling who all like to take a player on.
England to win to nil is 13/10 with BetVictor and looks a sensible bet. Norway concede a lot of goals away from home and for a bigger price I’ll go England to win 3-0 at 21/2 with the same firm”
It’s over 20 years since Norway last met England at Wembley when they played out a 0-0 draw in a friendly match. The Scandanavians were at their height at that time and are nowhere near the same force these days. Norway were held 0-0 by UAE in Stavanger last week and have won just one of their last eleven games.
