Premier League Preview And Weekend Acca Tips
It’s been a bit of a low key start to this season’s Premier League, if I’m entirely honest, with just 78 goals in the first 40 fixtures. That’s obviously less than two goals per game on average, which hasn’t made for the most exciting viewing.
Among the most shot-shy to date have been my old lot at Southampton and early pace-setters Liverpool, who’ve managed just seven between them. The two meet at Anfield this weekend and I’ve got a sneaky suspicion Saints might get something out of this fixture, despite the fact they’ve not won there since 2003. I think the most sensible bet is under 2.5 goals in the game, however, which is available at 31/40 with BetVictor.
Hopefully the battle of the basement at the Hawthorns will be a livelier affair. These two have managed just three points so far, and Paolo Di Canio won’t welcome the fact they’ve lost to the Baggies in six of their last seven meetings.
On Sunday Arsenal are a banker at home to Stoke, for my money, the latter having never picked up a point at the Emirates since they returned to the Premier League. Backing the Gunners -1 on the Asian handicap at 21/40 with Paddy Power looks like a sensible option to me.
Arsenal’s North London neighbours might find it tougher over in Cardiff, who obviously turned over Man City a few weeks back. But I think they’ll win by the odd goal.
Of course the big game of the day is in the late kick-off at the Etihad, where City welcome their nearest and dearest from Salford. It’s a tough one to call and, without wishing to sit on the fence, I think you can make a case for all three results. But I’m going for a score draw and am happy to take the 13/2 BetVictor are offering on 1-1. Be lucky folks.
