Back Bureau At 5.10 Pontefract
With a lot going in her favour, Bureau looks to have a golden opportunity to get a head in front at 5.10 Pontefract and can be backed at best odds 10/3 with Coral.
Mark Johnston’s 3-year-old is back down to the same mark as when successful at Ripon in July and was running well until her stamina gave out over 12 furlongs at Newmarket when last seen a fortnight ago. A drop back in trip should put the chestnut filly bang in the mix and having won on soft ground at Ripon, today’s going is of no concern. Add into the equation that Bureau is one of only two course and distance winners in the field along with Pivotman who may need a run after a lengthy absence and the mount of Joe Fanning looks to have solid claims.
Doc’s legacy is perhaps the biggest threat to the selection, having only found Stetchworth too good at Redcar last time, but it could be another Mark Johnston runner that gets the better of Richard Fahey’s 5-year-old today.
Elsewhere in the field, top weight Dark Ruler will probably give another good account of himself and could come into the frame returning to this trip, while Ardmay will benefit from jockey Kevin Stott’s 5lb claim and could therefore get a bit closer to Doc’s Legacy this time.
Lord Franklin arrives in a rich vein of form having won at Hamilton Park and Nottingham recently, but has a further 6lb rise in the weights to contend with and Bureau is taken to deny his hat-trick bid.
