Back Eduard To Get The Better Of Holywell
Holywell is already at the head of the market for next year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup and his chances were perhaps improved with Silviniaco Conti coming up short in yesterday’s Charlie Hall Chase, won by this column’s 10/1 ante-post tip Menorah. But Jonjo O’Neill’s classy chaser excels over 3 miles and with today’s 2 mile 4 furlong trip perhaps a little on the sharp side, the mount of AP McCoy can be opposed.
One horse which will get the trip is the Nicky Richards-trained Eduard, tipped at 15-8 via our Twitter feed this morning, but is now a general 13-8 chance with a number of firms including Coral who will refund losing stakes as a free bet, should your horse fall.
The progressive six-year-old won a bumper at Kelso on his first start before adding a couple of novice hurdle victories in the winter of 2012/13. Eduard made an impressive start to chasing, taking to the bigger obstacles with minimal fuss to finish a runner-up at today’s track before going one better at this venue last December. The mount of Brian Harding won on bottomless ground at Ayr before signing off last season with a Grade 2 victory over today’s distance at the Scottish venue.
Many Clouds is an interesting contender having chased home subsequent RSA Chase winner O’Faolains Boy in the Reynoldstown in February, but has a lot of ground to make up with Holywell Aintree running and the pair will have to pull out all of the stops to prevent the ever-improving Eduard from taking this.
