Euro Charline For Friday’s 3.55 Ascot
Ascot’s three-day King George V1 And Queen Elizabeth Stakes meeting kicks off on Friday and features the Listed Woodcote Stud EBF Stallions Valiant Stakes at 3.55.
The £40,000 contest for fillies and mares can provide a well deserved victory for the Marco Botti-trained Euro Charline who has competed at the highest level all season, and the drop in grade looks the perfect opportunity for the consistent daughter of Myboycharlie to gain her first success since taking a Wolverhampton handicap back in March.
The mount of Andrea Atzeni found only Sandiva a half length too good in Newmarket’s Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes before turning the tables on that horse when a creditable three-length fifth in the Qipco 1000 Guineas won by Miss France, this time in the hands of Adam Kirby.
Reunited with Atzeni, the filly ran another blinder when finishing a close third in Royal Ascot’s Coronation Stakes and a reproduction of that form should be more than good enough to justify the odds of 7/4 available with Ladbrokes for Friday’s race run over the same course and distance.
The Charles Hills-trained Kiyoshi would be a big danger on her two-year-old form but the mount of Jamie Spencer hasn’t shown enough in two runs this season to warrent consideration, while Gifted Girl has the ability to go close but has failed to beat a horse in her last two starts.
Woodland Aria ran well on her season reappearance when sixth behind Integral in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes but will need to improve again to trouble the selection who looks easily the one to beat in what should turn out to be a well-earned confidence booster.
