Racing Tip: Hot Streak Too Big At 12-1 For King Stand Stakes

Alan Kelly has ante-post advice for Royal Ascot and recommends taking the 12/1 about Hot Streak in the King Stand Stakes before the horse runs in this weekend's Temple Stakes at Haydock.
At 12/1 a £10 bet would return £130

Hot Streak Can Take Royal Ascot’s King Stand Stakes

The main race at Haydock this weekend is the Group 2 Betfred Temple Stakes in which 13 horses were declared at the 5-day stage and with bookmakers finding it hard to split Sole Power and Hot Streak at the head of the market now could be the best time to have an ante-post interest in Royal Ascot’s King’s Stand Stakes in anticipation of a performance by one of the principles which could elevate the winner to favouritism for the Group 1 sprint on Tuesday 17th June.

At the 12-1 currently available with Boylesports, Ladbrokes and William Hill the Kevin Ryan-trained Hot Streak is expected to do just that after the handler’s recent declaration that the son of Iffraaj could be the best horse he has trained, and the 3-year-old’s form backs up such a bold statement. The horse showed plenty of promise in his first four starts as a juvenile but, dropping back to the minimum trip for Ascot’s Cornwallis Stakes in October, the mount of Jamie Spencer put up one of the most impressive performances by a 2-year-old during last season when coming home five lengths clear of 3-1 favourite Outer Space in a time described by Timeform as ” comfortably the best recorded by a juvenile in 2013 and a figure matched only by Frankel ( in the 2010 Dewhurst ) among two-year-old’s in recent seasons.” High praise indeed!

Despite going down by half a length and a head to fellow Temple Stakes rivals Sole Power and Kingsgate Native on his seasonal reapearance in Newmarket’s Palace House Stakes Hot Streak should reverse that form on Saturday with the run under his belt and on a course that clearly suits the horse is a confident choice to advertise his claims as a potential sprint champion by taking the five furlong contest at the Royal Meeting in a month’s time.
