Racing Tip: Lucky Kristale Can Return To Form At 20-1
Back Lucky Kristale At 2.10 Doncaster
The second day of Doncaster’s Ladbrokes St Leger meeting features a cracking card high in both quality and quantity. The main race of the day is the Group 2 DFS Park Hill Stakes at 2.40 but close behind is the Japan Racing Association Sceptre Stakes at 2.10 in which the Group 3 event boasts a field of 18 fillies many of which have been running at the highest level for most of the season. Last month’s Goodwood Oak Tree Stakes provides a strong form line with the first four home all renewing rivalry and with little over a length covering the quartet there is no guarantee that J Wonder will come out on top once again.
Despite only winning a handicap at the recent Ebor Festival the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Bragging is sure to prove a warm order such was the impression created by the daughter of Exchange Rate but at a best price 11-4 the lightly-raced filly offers nothing in the way of value stepping up markedly in class. The William Haggas-trained Token Of Love ran out an easy winner at Haydock on her most recent start and is open to plenty more improvement but at a massive 20-1 with Coral it could be worth chancing a return to form for one of last season’s leading juvenile’s in Lucky Kristale.
Trainer George Margarson has always rated the Lucky Story filly highly and his judgement was proved spot on as her form as a two year old included victories in Newmarket’s Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes as well as another at that level in York’s Lowther Stakes.Quietly fancied for Newmarket’s Qipco 1000 Guineas the mount of Tom Queally failed to settle and was fighting a losing battle from an early stage. Another attempt at Group 1 company in Royal Ascot’s Coronation Stakes produced a below-par performance since when she has been given time to come to hand and if returning to something like her best is overpriced over what is probably her ideal distance.
