Rogue Angel Troytown Value
A cracking 3 mile chase awaits at 2.25 Navan on Sunday afternoon, with 27 runners set to contest the Ladbrokes Troytown Chase hoping to land the €60,000 prize for first place. Plenty are in with a chance, but one bet which stands out is Rogue Angel at 11/1 each-way with the sponsor, paying out 1/4 odds the first five horses home.
The 6-year-old gelding went into a few notebooks when comfortably scoring on heavy ground in a novice chase over today’s trip at Punchestown last December and put in a tidy round in the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. Bryan Cooper was on board for his seasonal reappearance over 2 miles 6 furlongs at Galway last month where Rogue Angel rallied in the dying stages and was reeling in Black Benny, but ran out of track and had to settle for second. The step up in trip should suit then, while a bit of cut in the ground will also be to his liking and it’s interesting that Coooper has opted to keep faith with the horse when he could have chosen either of the other Gigginstown horses that are in attendance.
With a bumper field, there are naturally a few dangers to the selection and Balbriggan is the one to watch out for having won 3 times from 5 starts for Gordon Elliot. Barry Geraghty rides Living Next Door for Tony Martin, but while the horse does stay this far, a recent spin over hurdles here did little to inspire confidence and Rogue Angel remains a confident selection.
