Saint Are To Profit From Drop In Class
It’s no surprise to see Saint Are firmly at the head of betting for the Class 3 Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance Handicap Chase at 3.40 Catterick, for which the mount of Paddy Brennan is now a best price 9/4 with Betfair Sportsbook on the back of significant market support.
The 9-year-old is now rated 8lb lower than his last winning mark, a listed handicap chase at Aintree in April 2012. Don’t be put off by the long winning run though, as Saint Are has been cutting it with some hot company in recent months.
The selection was a close third off 2lb lower in the Becher Chase in December and subsequently went off as an 11/2 joint favourite in another staying handicp chase at Cheltenham on New years Day, where again he ran with great credit for third behind Mon Parrain.
Tom George’s charge doesn’t face anything near that level today and should profit from the drop in class with good to soft conditions adding strength to his claims. The handler really needs to get a win out of Saint Are today if he is to stand a good chance of getting a run in the Grand National, and the fact that this is a pretty rare trip to Catterick for jockey Paddy Brennan suggests the team are confident of success.
