Teds Brother To Follow Up At Beverley
Ted’s Brother can defy a 6lb penalty for his recent victory and follow up with another success at 4.00 Beverley today.
Richard Guest’s six-year-old was gained his third win from four appearances at Hamilton when beating Another Joe by two lengths on May 4 and re-appears at Beverley where he has winning form last summer. On his only outing at the East Riding course, Teds Brother held on to win by a short head from Rex Romanorum over seven furlongs and returns for the extended mile handicap.
The distance won’t be a problem, his three wins at Hamilton were all at a mile and the underfoot conditions shouldn’t be an issue as he likes plenty of cut in the ground. The gedling’s penalty puts him on a mark of 74, his highest for two years, but his doesn’t appear the strongest firld and thr heavy going will find a few out.
Baraweez is the overnight favourite and Brian Ellison’s charge comes on the back of victory at Ayr late last month. That win was his best run to date and while he could be open to more improvement it coincided with a change of ground, good-to-firm following unsuccessful runs on softer going. Correggio is another winner last time out, his win at Pontefract as the third time Micky Hammond’s horse had crossed the line in front but each was on much firmer ground than they’ll meet today.
