Racing Tip: Vorda Value For 1000 Guineas At 16-1
Vorda Value For 1000 Guineas
Tomorrow’s Qipco 1000 Guineas looks as open a renewal as one could imagine with the majority of the 17 remaining runners ( Kiyoshi and Alutic both late withdrawals ) in with some kind of a chance and while general 7-2 favourite Rizeena deserves to be the market leader based on her two-year-old form and the confident noises coming from trainer Clive Brittain the daughter of Iffraaj is no good thing and is worth taking on at those kind of odds.
Having nominated Lucky Kristale at 14-1 ante-post she is a confident selection to run well and the Lucky Story filly is now no bigger than 8-1 to provide George Margarson with a first Classic success but in such an open contest a saver on one of the two French challengers, Vorda, is advised at the 16-1 available with Betvictor, Coral and William Hill. The mount of Christophe-Patrice Lemaire was a top class juvenile winning three times in his native country before coming to Newmarket for the Group 1 Connolly’s Red Mills Cheveley Park Stakes in which she ran out a cosy winner over Princess Noor and Kiyoshi.
On the back of the victory the daughter of Orpen was sent off the warm 11-4 favourite for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Santa Anita but could finish only seventh behind the ill-fated Chriselliam. That was clearly not Vorda’s form and it is best to put a line through her American adventure, judging her instead on her european form which saw a return to action this season at Maisons-Laffitte last month. Beaten a short neck by Xcellence in the Group 3 Prix Imprudence Vorda was only headed close home giving the impression that she will improve significantly for the run. Another French filly Miss France was disappointing on her reappearance but is also capable of running a big race as is the Aidan O’Brien pair of Bracelet and Tapestry.
