Sevilla vs Valencia preview, betting tips and prediction: Los Che to grab crucial three points at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan
March 08, 2018
Sevilla can make ground on Champions League rivals Valencia this weekend when they host the Bats in La Liga. Eight points behind the fourth-placed side, a win for Sevilla would put the pressure on Valencia.
However, they may have one eye on their Champions League tie with Manchester United, which is still in the balance. They travel to Old Trafford on the back of a goalless draw in Spain. Really, if they had a competent attacker, they could be carrying a lead over to England.
Luis Muriel led the line against United and couldn’t hit a barn door. Or maybe that’s not fair to David De Gea, the goalkeeper who Muriel kept all of his shots in the range of. How polite. Now the Colombian has found a bit of form after scoring in the recent 2-0 win over a poor Athletic Bilbao side.
A tidy finish from Muriel put Sevilla ahead, though not before he crashed a point-blank header against the crossbar. Valencia will hardly be shaking in their boots at the prospect of lining up against the former Sampdoria forward. Valencia also had a really comfortable 2-0 victory, beating Real Betis at the Mestalla. Rodrigo and Simeone Zaza got the goals in a game which failed to compare to their previous encounter, a 6-3 thriller in Andalucia.
Perhaps a return to the region can inspire a similar punch-for-punch affair. Sevilla are open enough at the back to exploit. Valencia showed this earlier in the campaign when they put four goals past them. We’re backing the visitors to once again get the better of Vincenzo Montella’s team.
