Stratford Tip: Bob Lewis Can Win On Chasing Debut
Bob Lewis – 3.20 Stratford
Bob Lewis made a pleasing debut for his new yard and it could be profitable to back trainer Stuart Kittow’s decision to switch to chasing in the novices handicap at 3.20 Stratford today.
Bob Lewis had spent less than a week at his new yard after moving out of Stuart Sampson’s stable when given his first run out for almost two years at Worcester last month. The gelding put in a fine effort in finishing second behind Rainbow Haze after getting his head in front before the last but just lacked pace on the run in to go down by a length.
This is not the strongest of contests and although still a maiden, Bob Lewis looks worth backing on his chasing debut and is available at 10/3 on 888sport – with treble odds for new customers, it’s 10/1 paid in cash.
Shady Glen has come in for support, backed from 6/1 to a general 9/2 this morning and comes into calculations on the strength of finishing fourth on his chasing debut at Uttoxeter in July. That was an improvement on hurdling form and if we assume the distance proved beyond him at Sedgefield last time, then Graeme McPherson’s six-year-old could be the main threat to the selection.
Lady Of Geneva is another to be backed for the race this morning with 16/1 snapped up early. It’s a surprise market move for Brendan Powell’s mare who showed little on her chasing debut 18 months ago and was brought down on her reappearance from a long lay-off in a hurdle race at Fontwell eight days ago.
Adios Amigo is a course winner but his tendency to hit the occasional fence is off-putting and there’s nothing else in the line-up that makes any appeal.
