Nine games into the Premier League season, Sunderland are still without a win. While this in itself isn’t incredibly surprising, it’s a bit of a shock that David Moyes is still in the hotseat. The Scot was recently saying that he’ll need to buy players to get his squad working, the classic go-to excuse for an incompetent manager. In this case, Moyes was being delusional too.

Arsenel to win Sunderland

Does he really believe that he’ll still be at Sunderland in January if things carry on the way they are? In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if arrangements were being made behind the scenes for another Big Sam-shaped gaffer to come in and replace Moyesey.

This weekend they face an in-form Arsenal side who will want to make up for a surprising home stalemate with Middlesbrough. Since then, the Gunners have picked up another win and another clean sheet, beating Reading 2-0 in the League Cup. It might be Halloween weekend but in this form a meeting with the Black Cats isn’t going to freak them out.

Three points are there for the taking. We fully expect to go there and get the job done. It could be the final nail for Moyes. Maybe he’ll pull something unexpected off with his back against the wall but we really doubt it. Santi Cazorla is out for the Gunners with an ankle injury while Granit Xhaka sits out the last game in his three-match ban. There’s a chance Adnan Januzaj and Jason Denayer could feature for Sunderland.

Sunderland XI: Pickford, Jones, Koné, Djilobodji, van Aanholt, Rodwell, McNair, Ndong, Watmore, Defoe, Khazri

Arsenal: Cech, Monreal, Koscielny, Mustafi, Bellerin, Coquelin, Elneny, Ozil, Alexis, Iwobi, Oxlade-Chamberlain
