Tip For Saturday’s Scottish Sprint Cup: Move In Time To Roll Back The Years In Scottish Sprint Cup
June 06, 2018
In October 2014 the David O’Meara-trained and Daniel Tudhope-ridden Move In Time landed one of the biggest prizes in horseracing over the minimum trip of five furlongs when winning the QNB Prix de L’Abbaye de Longchamp, earning an official rating of 113 in the process. Two more victories came for the son of Monsieur Bond the following year after which the sprinter’s form went into a downward spiral with a losing streak of seventeen outings for connections.
In October 2017 the gelding was sent to trainer Paul Midgley in the hope that a change of scenery might revitalise Move In Time towards a form revival and with recent form figures reading 6-3-2-1 that would appear to have worked the trick on a horse who will go to post for Saturday’s valuable Edinburgh Gin’s Scottish Sprint Cup at Musselburgh 23lb lower than was the case some three years ago.

Beaten just two heads on his seasonal reappearance on Newcastle’s all-weather track back in March the mount of David Probert went one place better the following month at Newmarket, going down by a length and a quarter to Major Jumbo after failing to get the best of runs. Returning to headquarters a month later, this time with Dougie Costello in the saddle, Move In Time looked something like the horse of old, travelling strongly in midfield before quickening impressively to run home a convincing three and a half length winner over 3-1 favourite Daschas.
The veteran ten-year-old’s best days may well be behind him but recent efforts suggest that off a mark of just 90 Move In Time is easily capable of landing another decent prize before retirement looms. With Midgley fresh from taking Epsom’s big sprint handicap ( Investec Dash ) last weekend with Tanasoq the stable could hardly be in better form and at a generous 15-2 the former sprint star can provide the York handler with another big pay day on Saturday.
