Tottenham Can Beat Villa To Nil
Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier tips Tottenham to beat Aston Villa while keeping a clean sheet in the Capital One Cup third round tie on Tuesday.
Andre Villas-Boas complained the scheduling of this match, his side’s third in six days, could put players’ careers at risk but it gives the Tottenham boss a chance to capitalise on the strength in depth within his squad. He has the option to introduce the club’s record signing Erik Lamela at Villa Park and £8.5 million defender Vlad Chiriches will be ready to make his debut now that his work permit has been sorted out.
Matt Le Tissier tips: “Tottenham and Aston Villa will make changes for their League Cup clash and Andres Villas-Boas has better options than Paul Lambert’s injured depleted squad.
Tottenham have only conceded one goal in eight games this season and the value looks to be Tottenham to win to nil at 7/2 on Betway.”
Paul Lambert doesn’t have the back up resources available to his North London counterpart and whatever changes the Villa manager is forced to make will weaken the side that picked up its second win of the season at Norwich on Saturday. Christian Benteke limped out of the game with a hip injury and will be a big miss for Villa while Gabby Agbonlahor, Fabian Delph, Ashley Westwood, Antonio Luna and Ciaran Clark are all injury doubts.
Villa’s home record last season was poor and has continued with defeats in two games against top flight opposition. Tottenham are unbeaten in their last five visits to Villa Park and having started the season with seven wins from eight in all competitions, so look worthy favourites tonight.
