Liverpool’s Rocky Fielding looks to dethrone home favourite Tyron Zeuge in Germany

Liverpool’s Rocky Fielding (26-1, 14 KOs) travels to Germany to contest home favourite Tyron Zeuge (22-0-1, 12 KOs) for his WBA ‘Regular’ super-middleweight title this weekend.

The Merseysider has enjoyed a run of five straight victories since that defeat to local compatriot Callum Smith in 2015, including outpointing John Ryder and stopping David Brophy last year.

That impressive form has seen Fielding earn a shot at the reigning WBA ‘Regular’ title holder Zeuge, who will be defending his crown for the fourth time on home soil.

The undefeated champion will enter the ring at the Baden-Arena in Offenburg as the odds-on 1/3 favourite with Betfair to successfully retain his belt once again.

Meanwhile, Fielding arrives on German territory as a dangerous 5/2 underdog with Coral to prevail on his travels and maintain his strong recent surge.

Fielding faces daunting trip to Germany to tackle home hope

When overcoming Ryder last year on home turf Fielding subsequently lifted the British super-middleweight strap, before blasting through Brophy in the opening round of his maiden defence five months later.

The 30-year-old last prepared for this WBA 168lbs title charge with an eight-round decision over Karel Horejsek in March and will now attempt to dethrone Zeuge in his own backyard.

Under the guidance of trainer Jamie Moore, Fielding will take to proceedings at 9/2 with William Hill to secure the nod of the judges in Germany.

Although, that may be a tough feat to achieve being the British fighter contesting the home champion in front of a partizan crowd.

The rangy Liverpudlian does possess the power and shot selection to trouble Zeuge, who is solid but far from slick defensively, and his best chance of claiming the belt will be to finish off the title holder.

Fielding is therefore a promising 4/1 with Paddy Power to rally to a knockout victory over the Berlin-born champion on his ventures.

If the British challenger can back the German up and apply immense pressure early on, something neither Paul Smith or Isaac Ekpo could do previously, then he may be able to break him down and claim a famous stoppage success.

Zeuge has shown he is more than capable of seeing out a title defence with the help of home comforts, though, and he is 4/5 with bet365 to clinch a decision triumph here for a fourth consecutive title defence.

Rocky Fielding is 4/1 to win by KO with Paddy Power.
