UFC 222 - Cyborg vs Kunitskaya Betting Tips, Preview and Predictions
Cyborg chases second successful title defence over Kunitskaya at UFC 222
With the initial headliner of Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar being reshuffled, women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg (19-1) will defend her title against Yana Kunitskaya (10-3) in the UFC 222 main event this weekend.
At the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the destructive female titlist is seeking a second defence of her crown, after impressively overcoming Holly Holm in December.
The 32-year-old Brazilian this time comes up against Invicta FC bantamweight champion Kunitskaya, who has long been waiting for her opportunity to shine on the big stage.
She gets that chance this weekend and will enter the octagon as the 9/1 outsider with Coral to cause a major upset in Nevada, after the 28-year-old got the better of Raquel Pa’aluhi last year.
Although, Cyborg has been a dominant force since arriving on the UFC scene and it will take a special performance to dethrone her in Sin City.
The reigning featherweight queen is the odds-on 1/14 front runner to prevail with Betfair this weekend and maintain her superiority in the division.
Edgar and Ortega contest for right to face featherweight champion Holloway
Featherweight contender Edgar (22-5) was originally set to tackle Holloway for his UFC featherweight belt in the main event, but the latter was forced to withdraw with injury.
The 36-year-old New Jersey native instead must do battle with unbeaten challenger Ortega (13-0) for the right to then contest the champion at a later stage.
Edgar has become a hugely popular fighter in the organisation over the years, mainly down to the exciting encounters he has been involved in, along with his admirable endurance and ability to withstand punishment.
The former UFC lightweight title holder is regarded as the odds-on 8/13 favourite with Betfair to triumph and set up a clash with Holloway, but he could be in for a tougher night than expected.
Californian Ortega is on a rampant surge of five straight victories since testing positive for drostanolone and seeing his July 2014 submission success over Mike De La Torre altered to a no contest.
The 27-year-old most recently overcame Cub Swanson in December and he is therefore a promising 13/8 with Paddy Power to secure a huge win this weekend in the UFC 222 co-main event.
