Emmett and Stephens seek successful step closer to featherweight title shot
Featherweight strikers Josh Emmett (13-1) and Jeremy Stephens (27-14) collide this weekend in the UFC Orlando main event, as they both look to edge closer to a title shot.
Max Holloway has continued his dominance in the 145lbs division, having secured impressive back-to-back victories over Brazilian great Jose Aldo.
Stephens has long been an exciting fighter and is aiming to build on his recent momentum, after successive wins over Gilbert Melendez and most recently Doo Ho Choi.
The 31-year-old brilliantly knocked out ‘the Korean Superboy’ in January this year and will enter the octagon this weekend as the odds-on 8/11 favourite with Betfair to prevail again.
Meanwhile, Emmett is another contender that has enjoyed a recent surge and captured the attention after halting Ricardo Lamas in the opening round of their December match-up.
The 32-year-old is seen as the 11/8 outsider with Coral to triumph, but he has so far embraced his role as the underdog in previous outings.
With both men seeking a shot at Holloway’s featherweight crown this year and the pair typically involved in entertaining bouts, this makes for an interesting UFC Orlando headliner.
UFC featherweight title shot on the horizon for eventual victor
The momentum Emmett and Stephens both bring into this weekend’s encounter makes this an intriguing meeting, as they look to make a decisive move towards the featherweight belt.
A wealth of experience against top opposition throughout his UFC career to date, along with his great run of form in recent months, make Stephens a worthy front runner here.
The Iowa native is more than capable of going toe to toe and getting involved in a full scale brawl with his latest foe, but he also possesses the fight IQ to emerge with his hand held high.

Emmett is a top grappler, though, and will undoubtedly try to utilise his wrestling skills as much as possible when they collide on American soil. Punters can back there to be under 3.5 total rounds at evens with Betfair in this headline fight.
‘The Grim Reaper’ also has a superb engine that can keep him going throughout the clash, but if Stephens is able to control the distance and pace, then he should come out on top and maintain his impressive surge.
UFC Orlando could be set to witness an entertaining featherweight match-up and, for as long as it lasts, it will likely provide fireworks at the Amway Center.
