Wellbeck To Spur United On
Back Man Utd To Beat Spurs
Football legend Matt Le Tissier gives his thoughts on Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur in the 17.30 kick-off on New Years Day, shown live on BT Sport.
Manchester United appear to have steadied the ship with four straight Premier League wins and have closed the gap to just eight points from the top of the table. Their performance against Hull was particularly impressive to come back from two goals down to win 3-2 and I can’t see them letting Tottenham have an easy ride today.
Spurs were impressive when beating Stoke 3-0 last time out, but The Potters have won just once on the road this season and offered little resistance at Whitehart Lane.. they didn’t even have a shot in the first half! Paulinho was running the show for Tottenham and they miss him through injury today which will make life a lot easier for the hosts.
Matt Le Tissier Tips: “Although the Red Devils look a little short at 17/20 with Betvictor I think they’ll win. Danny Welbeck has always struck me as a confidence player and, amongst the goals of late, you could do worse than backing the England man at 6/1 with Ladbrokes to net first.
Danny Wellbeck has scored four goals in four Premier League appearances for Manchester United and was first on the scoresheet in three of those matches. Robin Van Persie is out and Wayne Rooney faces a late fitness test, so Wellbeck looks destined to start the game given his recent goalscoring form.
