Tizz Talks: 8/1, 7/1 & 17/2 Premier League Betting Tips

This Saturday sees seven Premier League games go ahead with Aston Villa hosting Newcastle United in the early game. I have picked out an 8/1 bet builder for that game.

Following on from that I have a 7/1 treble for the 3pm games, and I am hoping for back-to-back wins after my 6/1 3pm treble won last weekend. And for the evening game champions Manchester City host strugglers Leicester City and I’ve picked out a 17/2 bet builder for Dean smith’s first game in charge.

Aston Villa vs Newcastle United 8/1 bet builder

Two of the form sides in the Premier League go head to head at Villa Park this weekend as Unai Emery’s Aston Villa host Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United in the early game. The visitors have won all of their last five league games and the hosts have taken 19 points from a possible 21. Striker Ollie Watkins is in the form of his life right now with nine goals in his last 11 games for The Villains and Magpies forward Alexander Isak has an impressive return of five goals in his last five league games. I was part of the OddsOnPodcast panel this week and myself Dan Tracey and Craig Jones were all in agreement that this was probably the hardest game to call this weekend, and a draw looks like the most likely outcome. Both clubs have ambitions of European football next season, which is pretty remarkable considering. Top-four looks very realistic for the Toon Army while Villa have come from nowhere to play themselves into Europa League contention.

  • Joelinton to commit 2+ fouls
  • Ollie Watkins 2+ shots on target
  • Newcastle over 4.5 corners

Chelsea vs Brighton - Brighton or draw

It’s not been the fairytale start Frank Lampard will have been hoping for with two defeats from his first two games against Wolves and Real Madrid. The Blues look to be out of the Champions League and their Premier League season can’t be saved. A match against in-form Brighton couldn’t come at a worse time and I fear that it could be a third straight defeat for Frank on Saturday. The Seagulls were robbed against Spurs last weekend, there is no sugarcoating the performance of the referee and VAR in that one. That was the visitors first defeat on the road in eight Premier League games so they will not fear going to Stamford Bridge, which was once regarded as a fortress. The visitors also pummeled The Blues 4-1 in the reverse fixture.

Southampton vs Crystal Palace - Crystal Palace win

Roy Hodgson has had an instant impact for The Eagles and I have a feeling he could be taking another three points this weekend. The Saints are rock-bottom of the table and have taken just two points from their last five games in the league. As for Palace it is two wins in two wins for Roy since his return, which ended a run of 12 games without a win before his arrival. A win here would give the London side a strong chance of surviving relegation, after wins against relegation candidates Leicester and Leeds in their last two games. The win at Elland Road will have been particularly encouraging with five goals scored on the road. It has been Palace’s lack of goal threat which has held them back this season and seven goals in two games since Roy was reappointed as manager is sure to have pleased the fans.

Everton vs Fulham - Everton win

A huge game at Goodison Park this weekend and one that Sean Dyche I expect Sean Dyche will be relishing with Fulham seemingly on the beach. The Cottagers have lost their last five games in all competitions and have nothing left to play for this season with their Premier League status for next season all but secured and European football you would have to say being out of their reach. There is obviously a lot riding on this game for the toffees with goal-difference the only thing keeping them outside of the relegation zone. The hosts have won three of their last five home league games and they have all been by a scoreline of 1-0. I will be going with Everton to nick another three points this weekend and I don’t fancy many goals without Mitrovic in the Fulham line-up.

Manchester City vs Leicester City

Dean Smith takes charge of his first game for The Foxes and he couldn’t face a trickier test than taking on the reigning champions at the Etihad. The Citizens have won their last nine games in all competitions as well as winning eight of their last nine league games. As for the visitors they have been woeful of late with one point gained in their last eight league games, form which has seen them drop to 19th place and two points from safety with only eight games remaining to save themselves. We are running out of words to describe superstar striker Erling Haaland who has scored 30 goals in 27 games, a Premier League record in his debut campaign. It will come as no surprise that I expect a home win this weekend and I expect that there will be plenty of goals too. I won’t be taking the price of 1/8 for the home win as the odds just aren’t backable at that so instead I will be looking towards player markets and goals. Leicester talisman James Maddison cut a frustrated figure last time out for the visitors and he has picked up eight yellow cards this season, perhaps a stat that will surprise many given that is more than any player taking part in this match. The fact that he is 18th on the list for odds to be carded at 7/2 suggests to me there is definite value there.

  • James Maddison to be carded
