As seen on Paddy Power, the only fight that many people are talking about is the main event itself. Max Holloway will defend his UFC Featherweight Championship against Frankie Edgar in a showdown that, in a lot of ways, has been a long time coming.
Frankie has been trying to claw his way back into title contention for years and at this stage, it could well be his last bite of the cherry. On the opposite end of the spectrum you’ve got Holloway, who has been on the run of his career ever since losing via unanimous decision to the larger than life Conor McGregor.
This may not be the prettiest or the most lucrative fight by any means for the UFC, but it’s something that will almost certainly have hardcore fans of mixed martial arts salivating.
In terms of the actual odds, it’ll come as a surprise to few that the champ Max Holloway comes in as the 4/9 favourite. The challenger, Frankie, is a 13/8 underdog at this stage – but if we learned anything from Madison Square Garden it’s to expect the unexpected in this sport.
Many believe that this’ll go the distance with over 4.5 rounds being 4/7 meanwhile the under is 5/4, and given the records of both men, that won’t come as too much of a surprise.
Which ever way you look at it this should be an absolute barn burner, and the best part of it is that it’s just one of many great bouts that’ll go down in Detroit.
Motor City will also showcase a tremendous co-main event of Alistair Overeem and Francis Ngannou, with Cejudo vs Pettis, Alvarez vs Gaethje and Torres vs Waterson rounding things off nicely.
If you’re a fight fan then you’d best believe that this is what you need to be watching on December 2nd, especially given the long term ramifications that could stem from the card.
On one hand we could determine a number one contender for the Heavyweight Championship of the world, whilst also clearing the way for new challengers at both featherweight and lightweight.
