Six Nations: Sexton to miss Paris clash

Irish hopes of winning a Grand Slam may have taken a turn for the worse with the bad news that Ireland’s captain and inspirational fly half, Johnny Sexton,36, has been ruled out of what could be the decisive game in the Six Nations..the France-Ireland clash in Paris.

Sexton has injured a hamstring in training and will be replaced by the Munster number 10 Joey Carbery who appeared in all three of Ireland’s autumn internationals.

Indeed, Carbery,26, played the last 17 minutes of Ireland’s opening game in the Six Nations in which Wales, the defending champions, were well beaten by 29-7.

Sexton, it’s expected, will be out of action for 10 days, and it’s hoped that Ireland’s skipper will be able to return for the Test against Italy at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on February 27th.

Ireland’s team against France, the favourites to win the Six Nations along with the Irish, will now be captained by second row forward James Ryan.
