Premier League Knockout

Both Newcastle and Tottenham lost last weekend, a second successive defeat would be welcomed by neither party.

Dust Themselves Off

When an out of sorts Newcastle departed Villa Park last Saturday, they would have had every right to fear the worst. Tottenham’s Premier League encounter with Bournemouth was just about to get underway and the bookmakers had backed a home win for Spurs.

However, those fears would prove to be unfounded, as the Cherries recorded a stunning victory in North London and one that keeps the status quo as far as this season’s race for fourth place is concerned.

In fairness, even a win for Cristian Stellini’s men would have not seen the Magpies usurped, but it would have put the two teams on equal points going into Sunday and when you consider the St James’ Park outfit have a game in hand as well, a Champions League invite is in their hands.

Had the two teams been tied on 56 points before this weekend’s all-important encounter, Newcastle’s game in hand could have counted for far less if the upcoming away side subsequently moved on to 59 by the end of the week.

Now though, there is just a little less needle when it comes to these proceedings. It is certainly a must win game for Tottenham, it is perhaps more akin to a do not lose when it comes to own Newcastle’s viewpoint.

At the same time, a draw may even allow Aston Villa to make the latest of late dashes for fourth. If results go the way of the West Midlands side at the weekend, the race for the Champions League invite may see a third entrant.

Of course, Eddie Howe’s men were no match for Villa last Saturday. The history books may have this one down as a 3-0 away defeat, were it not for the thickness of the goalposts it could just as easily have been five.

While there were five goals in N17 later that same day, unfortunately for Tottenham the lion’s share went elsewhere. Failure to build on the previous victory over Brighton was due to an abundance of failures at either end.

Were it not for the failures of the officials when the Seagulls had their wings clipped, Tottenham would have likely lost another league encounter. They got lucky with one South Coast outfit; their luck certainly ran out almost a week ago.

With that in mind, our latest bet builder is now up for grabs, and it looks like this:

  • Newcastle win
  • Alexander Isak to score anytime
  • Harry Kane to score anytime

Newcastle vs Tottenham Tips

Here are our bet builder tips for the match at St James' Park

For my latest bet builder offering, I am first going all in on the Newcastle win. Tottenham are consistently inconsistent this season and I would go nowhere near them when it comes to a match outcome prediction.

With that said, I would certainly go near Harry Kane. No matter how hard his teammates let him down you can count on him to score a goal. At the same time, I am also counting on Alexander Isak to find the net and with these three picks combined, this bet builder is priced at 14/1.
