West Ham v Anderlecht Match Preview & Betting Tips

Can West Ham secure a last 16 spot?

West Ham are on the brink of qualifying for the last 16 of the Europa League Conference, and they will be in good spirits when they host Anderlecht on Thursday evening.

After a slow start to the campaign, the Hammers have got their act together and they have reeled off three wins on the trot in all competitions.

David Moyes’ men are one of three teams with a 100% record in this season’s Europa League Conference along with AZ Alkmaar and Villarreal, and they have assumed control of Group B.

It seems unlikely that Moyes will make too many changes to the side that beat Anderlecht 1-0 last week. Flynn Downes impressed, and he will hope to maintain his starting berth, while Gianluca Scamacca could drop to the bench, with Michail Antonio the preferred option to lead the attack.

Anderlecht, meanwhile, warmed up for this game with a 3-1 win over Mechelen, but they don’t have any fresh injury concerns to contend with.

This should be an intriguing contest, and to aid your betting slip, we have selected a couple of tips for you to pore over.

West Ham to keep unbeaten run going

In many respects, the Europa League Conference has been a welcome distraction for West Ham, and they have proved a force to be reckoned with so far.

Against Anderlecht, the Hammers carved out numerous clear-cut chances, but they were guilty of being wayward at times. Indeed, West Ham fashioned out 18 attempts on goal.

What may be of greater cause for concern from an Anderlecht perspective, is that their three Europa League Conference games to date has mustered just one goal.

West Ham will be eager to keep their unbeaten record going, and I can’t see them slipping up. Nevertheless, it could be a tight affair once again.

If you are a fan of the Correct Score section, then William Hill has obliged with a price of 7/1 for West Ham to clinch a 2-1 win which seems quite reasonable.

Said Benrahma to settle matters

Although it required a late intervention in Belgium from Scamacca when he leapt off the bench to net the winner, the Hammers, in general, looked cohesive going forward.

Said Benrahma, in particular, was threatening, and while he spurned a couple of decent openings, he also tested Hendrik van Crombrugge.

Benrahma may not have scored since his side’s 3-1 win over Viborg back in August, but I think he will end his drought in the competition.

The Algerian winger is a bit of a livewire, and he could well end up settling matters. I am liking the look of the Goalscorer Markets, and you should jump on the 7/1 odds offered by Unibet for Benrahma to net the final goal of the game.
