With the DP World Tour on a summer hiatus for a few weeks, it’s time to scurry off to the other side of the pond for the 3M Open.

Last weekend, the final Major of the year seemed to be a bit of a procession as Brian Harman strolled to a six-stroke win as he overcame the inclement weather conditions at Hoylake to lift The Open – his maiden Major.

He will, of course, be taking a well-deserved break, perhaps hunting and mowing his 40-acre property with his state-of-the-art tractor.

But for those who are heading to Minnesota for the 3M Open, there is work to be done for some who wish to qualify for the season-ending FedEx Cup play-offs, which begin in August.

The top 70 will take their place at the lucrative play-offs, which carries a total prize pool of around £60 million.

Tony Finau is the 3M Open’s defending champion, but having failed to finish in the top 30 in any of his previous six starts, is it a big ask for him to turn around his fluctuating fortunes?

I have delved into the betting markets, and I have handpicked a couple of betting tips for you to salivate over.

Emiliano Grillo to step into the winner’s circle

He may have been on the scene for a while, but Emiliano Grillo is looking in fine fettle ahead of the 3M Open.

Last week, he looked assured at The Open, clinching a T6, and he shot a 68 in his final round (three-under-par), which was nothing short of incredible given the conditions the field had to contend with in Liverpool.

The 3M Open has plenty of concerning water hazards, and when you throw lots of bunkers into the mix, that will give the field plenty to think of.

Oh, and the putting surfaces are slightly larger than the PGA Tour average, but Grillo, who triumphed at the Charles Schwab Challenge earlier this year, will relish the challenge.

Last week, I probably should have been a bit bolder with Harman rather than plump on a top-10 finish.

Anyway, I’m liking the look of Grillo, and so to kick things off, I have gone with the outright winner market and Grillo to hoist the trophy come Sunday evening. A rather tempting price of 25/1 at bet365 may be too good to ignore.

Sung-Jae Im to wrap up top-5 finish

Sung-Jae Im is a joy to watch, especially off the tee. I have always liked his delayed backswing before launching it, although perhaps he would prefer to be slightly higher in that performance metric (111th), averaging just shy of 300 yards.

That said, the South Korean is only 25 years old, which in golfing terms is still pretty young, even though it has felt he has been around for much longer.

He had a good week at The Open last week, claiming a T20 finish, and he can be red hot with the putter this week.

For my second pick, I have gone with Im to wrap up a top-5 finish, which is paying out at 4/1 at BetVictor.
