With the DP World Tour on a hiatus, the full focus this week will be on the PGA Tour and the Wyndham Championship, with the action coming from Sedgefield Country Club.

As this is the last event before the lucrative FedEx Cup play-offs get underway next week, there are a few players on the fringes of punching their ticket to the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Remember, only the top 70 will be involved in the first stage of the FedEx Cup off playoffs which is a three-legged affair, and the end goal is to get to the season-ending BMW Championship, which pits the top 30 against each other.

Ok, let’s not also forget that the Wyndham Championship carries a prize purse of around £7million too which makes it a competition worth winning.

Justin Thomas, for example, needs a good week as he is currently 79th in the FedEx Cup standings, and he has been struggling for form of late.

But who will be crowned the champion? I have rummaged through the markets and picked out a couple of juicy tips for you to mull over.

Sungjae Im to make amends after 3M disappointment

Undeterred by his missed cut at the 3M Open last weekend, I simply can’t overlook Sungjae Im.

Sitting in 36th spot in the FedEx Cup table, Im isn’t in danger of being cut adrift as far as the FedEx St. Jude Championship is concerned.

Although a -1 score meant he had a rare weekend off, the South Korean has a superb short game, and Sedgefield should suit his style.

Spanning over 7,100 yards, Sedgefield is stacked with eight par-4s ranging from 400-450 yards in length, while the par-4 18th which stretches 507 yards is arguably the toughest hole on the course.

I expect Im to bounce back, and in style. So, I have gone with Im to step into the winner’s circle, and although he’s currently joint-favourite with Hideki Matsuyama, his 18/1 price at Paddy Power isn’t worth turning your nose up at!

J.T. Poston to set his stall out early

It’s always nice to look out for players in form or those who have had a good track at a past event.

In J.T. Poston, golfing aficionados will know he lifted the Wyndham Championship in 2019 when he posted an eight-under-par round of 62 to clinch his first PGA Tour victory.

Such moments always provide special memories, and Poston has been a model of consistency since his missed cut in June at the Travelers Championship.

There has been a flurry of top-six finishes for him of late. Had it not been for his double bogey at the 18th last weekend, he could well have been kissing the trophy, but instead he was left to rue on that and a further £200,000 that slipped through his grasp.

Anyway, I think Poston will put that to the back of his mind, and he will be desperate to make amends.

So, for my second tip, I have gone with Poston to blaze a trail in Round 1 and be the leader after Thursday’s play. If you fancy following up on that, bet365 has obliged with a rather long price of 40/1 for that to be the case.
