The highlight of an otherwise disappointing week was the victory of our 4/1 Nap of the Day, East India Dock, in Friday’s Chester Cup. The majority of our Saturday ITV Racing Tips were well supported, but apart from Puppet Master’s Lingfield Derby Trial win and a couple of placed selections at double-figure odds, it was a poor conclusion to the week.
- P/L for the w/e Sunday, May 11th: -£10.42
- P/L for the year 2025 to date: -£23.48
- P/L for the year 2024: +£200.42
- P/L since 1st September 2022: +£462.51
Alan Kelly’s Horse Racing Tips
York’s popular three-day Dante meeting gets underway on Wednesday and is likely to provide plenty of clues regarding the outcome of next month’s Classics at Epsom.
Newbury’s Group 1 BoyleSports Lockinge Stakes is the feature race on Saturday.
Nap of the Day - Brazilian Belle (3:17pm Catterick)
A winner over today’s course and distance as a juvenile 12 months ago, Michael Dods’ filly is fancied to take this three-year-old handicap following her promising reappearance at Doncaster last month.
3:17pm Catterick - Brazilian Belle (Nap)
Adrian Nicholls’ Tees Aggregates made a good start to the season when beaten a head in a 14-runner handicap over today’s course and distance last month, two places and half a length in front of fellow rival Jeany May from the Nigel Tinkler stable. Both horses failed to build on those efforts next time out however, making the one to beat in this three-year-old 5f handicap, top weight BRAZILIAN BELLE (Nap).
The Michael Dods-trained daughter of Coulsty was a comfortable winner over today’s course and distance on her second start as a juvenile 12 months ago. The mount of Connor Beasley ended the season when finishing fifth in a nursery at Catterick (started 7/4 favourite), a length and a half in front of Tees Aggregate and now 2lb better off with that horse at today’s weights.
Brazilian Belle returned to action at Doncaster towards the end of last month, holding every chance until weakening into fourth, beaten a length and a half, close home. With that run under her belt and off a 1lb lower mark, the filly can provide the stable with a welcome winner following a spell of 6 seconds in the last fortnight.
Recommendation: Brazilian Belle (Nap) - 13/8 with bet365
6:33pm Windsor - Aramis Grey (Each-Way)
William Knight’s Regal Envoy has won three of his last four starts and heads the betting at 9/2 for this wide-open Windsor Sprint Series Qualifier. Oisin Murphy’s mount has never won off a mark this high however and may struggle to follow-up last month’s victory at Newmarket.
Several of these ran in the Fitzdares Sprint Series Final over tonight’s course and distance last summer, best of which was Rod Millman’s Amazonian Dream who beat all bar William Haggas’s progressive Elmonjed. The unlucky horse of the race, however, was the Rae Guest-trained ARAMIS GREY (Each-Way) Grey, who failed to get anything like a clear run before finishing a close third.
Now in the care of trainer Jack Jones, Callum Shepherd’s mount is handicapped to come out on top this time, especially following some decent efforts in defeat this year, the most recent of which was when beaten half a length by 200/1 chance Heavenly Heather in the very valuable BetMGN Fillies’ And Mares’ Championships Handicap at Newcastle last month. Fourth in last year’s Ayr Gold Cup off a 3lb higher mark, Aramis Grey is certainly entitled to win this if running up to anything like his best.
Recommendation: Aramis Grey (Each-Way) - 8/1 with bet365 (3 places)
