UFC 212 Aldo v Holloway Betting Tips

Sadly, a number of pig fights have fallen through but it still should be a good undercard with the main event having the potential to be one of the fight’s of the year.

Aldo naturally goes into the fight as favourite at 4/6 with Coral and is certainly the most likely among the experts to unify the featherweight division. Aldo has lost just two during his career and has fought back well since that stunning 13 second loss against Conor McGregor back in 2015.

For Holloway, he’s on a long unbeaten run that has also not seen him lose since defeat to McGregor back in 2013. So how do we see this going?

UFC 212 Aldo v Holloway Predictions

Holloway’s 10 match unbeaten run has turned a few heads and has beaten the likes of Andre Fili, Charles Oliveira and Anthony Pettis in recent times. At slightly better odds of 6/5 he could be a better punt, especially with his 70% stoppage rate over the course of his last 10.

The McGregor shock versus Aldo could see an early stoppage bet for Holloway a good option with the the American seeing odds of 9/1 for a first round finish and a 12/1 second round.

What Hollway does is attack frequently. It’s a huge contrast between the two with the man fighting out of Hawaii throwing an average of 13.19 significant strikes per minute. Aldo’s average falls way below that, attempting only 7.63 per minute, relying much more on a tight defence.

Which is where he could certainly come out on top. His fantastic head movement and continual studying inside the ring means he can read attacks perfectly and effectively use his footwork to pull of some of the best slips and pulls UFC has ever seen.

The technique of the man is quite remarkable and it’s why an Aldo win on points remains the favourite outcome at 9/4 with William Hill.

A knockout could come either way however. Holloway is certainly more hittable with his movement no way near comparable to Aldo’s movement, while the McGregor fight could give the American confidence early on.

It’s going to be an interesting encounter with a man who has ruled the division for almost a decade taking on an aggressive fighter who is baying for blood. It’s slick intelligent fighting against Holloway’s relentless output. Can Aldo counter it and stifle Holloway?

It wouldn’t surprise us. Holloway has never really got going against a tactical fighter of Aldo’s quality and it could become a frustrating night for him. From there Aldo’s notorious low kicks and power could come into play.

At numerous points Holloway’s sheer volume and accuracy will overwhelm Aldo, but at the same time Aldo will be able to set his own pace for the fight the more and more the fight goes on. It’s a fight that’ll have a number of turning points, and we can’t wait to tune in for it!
