This week’s second legs get going a day early, with Gent needing to overturn a first leg defeicit.

Last Thursday, forced to play their home matches in Budapest, Maccabi Haifa managed to beat the Belgian side 1-0, with Frantzdy Pierrot the match-winner at Bozsik Aréna, causing a bit of an upset.

Due to the ongoing Israel–Hamas war, Maccabi Haifa have not been able to play any of their last three European home matches on home soil, meaning it would be some achievement if they got through here.

Gent meantime got all the way to the quarter-finals of this competition just last season, eventually ousted by West Ham.

So, Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s team are certainly favourites to get through at Ghelamco Arena, but their performance level will need to significantly improve.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Royale Union Saint-Gilloise betting tips

There was never likely to be much to seperate these two sides, and so it proved in Brussels last mid-week, although that isn’t how it always looked as though it would transpire.

After just ten minutes at Stade Constant Vanden Stock, Eintracht Frankfurt were firmly in control, leading 2-0, thanks to goals from Farès Chaïbi and then Saša Kalajdžić.

However, Mathias Rasmussen hit back soon after before, mid-way through the second half, Gustaf Nilsson equalised, salvaging a 2-2 draw for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Les Unionistes, returning to UEFA competition after 58 years away, got all the way to the quarter-finals of the Europa League just last season, dumped out by Bayer Leverkusen.

Right now, Alexander Blessin’s side are clear at the top of the Belgian Pro League, with Union SG dreaming of a first title since 1935.

Eintracht Frankfurt meantime won the Europa League just two years ago, so have lost only three of their last 14 European home matches.

Thus, in what is now essentially a one-off cup tie, we’re backing Dino Toppmöller’s team to advance at Deutsche Bank Park.

Dinamo Zagreb vs Real Betis betting tips

After causing a massive upset in Southern Spain last Thursday, can GNK Dinamo Zagreb complete the job back at home?

A week ago, most expected Real Betis to prevail at the Benito Villamarín, but that was not the case, with Bruno Petković’s penalty, 14 minutes from the end, securing a 1-0 victory for the Croatian champions.

GNK Dinamo did get all the way to the Europa League quarter-finals three seasons ago, with their their first appearance in the last eight of any UEFA competition since 1970.

Now though, having left Seville 1-0 winners, Sergej Jakirović's team are in pole position to get into the round of 16, dreaming of going even further.

Los Verdiblancos, in contrast, were embarrassed to be in this competition in the first place, ending up below Rangers and Sparta Prague in their group, hence why only 25,091 turned up last mid-week, despite the fact the capacity is in excess of 60,000.

Manuel Pellegrini’s team have only won seven of their last 16 European away games, losing five, meaning Betis do not appear likely to complete a remontada at Stadion Maksimir.

Bodø/Glimt vs Ajax betting tips

The first leg at Johan Cruijff Arena was certainly very entertaining, but we’re no closer to knowing who’s European adventure will continue.

Against all odds, Bodø/Glimt raced into a 2-0 lead in Amsterdam, with Albert Grønbæk the scorer of both.

Ajax were then presented with a golden chance to get back into the tie, awarded a penalty in stoppage time, Odin Lurås Bjørtuft sent off, with substitute Branco van den Boomen cooly converting from 12 yards.

The drama was not over there though because, right at the death, the Dutch giants were able to find an unlikely equaliser, with Steven Berghuis’ perfectly-weighted dink beautifully going, just about, over the line.

So 2-2 it ended, meaning it’s winner takes all in the Arctic Circle.

Bodø/Glimt, who’ve won three of the last four Eliteserien titles, got all the way to the quarter-finals of this competition just two seasons ago, despite making their group phase debut earlier in that campaign.

Amazingly, Kjetil Knutsen’s team have won 19 of their last 23 European home matches, losing only three, so will fancy their chances of making home advantage count at Aspmyra Stadion.

Ajax meantime are debuting in the Europa Conference League, after accumulating a measly four points during their Europa League campaign in the autumn.

John van ‘t Schip’s team were hoping to go deep into this competition, but will need to drastically improve if they’re to avoid an ignominious exit in Northern Norway.

Ferencváros vs Olympiacos betting tips

Following the first leg in Piraeus, this tie is finely poised as the record-champions of Hungary and Greece meet again.

Last Thursday, Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium only witnessed one goal, but it was one the majority in attendance enjoyed, with Ayoub El Kaabi’s late header snatching victory for Olympiacos.

Will this one-goal advantage prove to be enough as they travel to Budapest?

Olympiacos finished third in Greece last season and are down in fourth right now, hence why José Luis Mendilibar became their eighth manager in little over a season and a half just last week.

The Red-Whites are European regulars, although they’ve only featured in the last 16 of any UEFA competition on seven occasions since 1999, so victory here would be a noteworthy achievement.

Ferencváros meantime got all the way to the Europa League round of 16 just 12 months ago, their best run since featuring in the 1975 Cup Winners’ Cup Final, beaten by Dynamo Kyiv in Basel back then.

Dejan Stanković's side are unbeaten in six Europa Conference League home games, winning four of them, so will believe they can overturn that one-goal deficit at Groupama Aréna.

Legia Warsaw vs Molde betting tips

The first leg in Norway was certainly entertaining, so will this rematch also serve up five goals?

Molde looked set to cruise through when they found themselves 3-0 up inside 24 minutes at Aker Stadion, with Fredrik Gulbrandsen bagging a quick-fire brace, before Markus André Kaasa added a third.

Legia Warszawa looked down and out, but they never gave up, with second half goals from Josué and then Rafał Augustyniak pulling it back to 3-2, meaning it’s game on in the Polish capital.

Erling Moe’s team will be devastated that they’re not in a more commanding position, as Molde seek to reach the round of 16 in any UEFA competition for only the second time, doing so for the very first time in 2021.

On the flip-side, having won all three of their group stage home games, most-notably beating Aston Villa, Kosta Runjaić's Legia will fancy their chances of completing the comeback at Stadion Wojska Polskiego.

Slovan Bratislava vs Sturm Graz betting tips

To say Sturm Graz are in control of this tie, following the first leg in Austria, would be an understatement.

A week ago, the clash at Liebenauer Stadium began with a bang, 1-1 after just eight minutes, with Mika Biereth breaking the deadlock for the hosts, only for new signing Gerson Rodrigues rolled in an equaliser soon after.

After that though, it was all Sturm Graz, with Jon Gorenc Stanković, restoring their lead and Otar Kiteishvili converting a penalty, before Amady Camara fired home a, potentially, decisive fourth in injury time.

Christian Ilzer’s team had failed to win any of their four previous European home games this season, but now die Schwoazn are in pole position to reach the round of 16 of a UEFA competition for the first time since 2001.

Slovan Bratislava meanwhile have claimed victory in just five of their last 21 European home matches, meaning Vladimír Weiss’ side are very unlikely to pull off a comeback at Tehelné pole.

Ludogorets Razgrad vs Servette betting tips

To be succinct, last Thursday’s first leg at Stade de Genève was very uneventful, finishing goalless, meaning it’s winner takes all in Bulgaria.

Ludogorets Razgrad have featured in ten UEFA group stages in the last 11 season, but have lost each of their last five knockout phase ties, so victory here would be a big achievement.

Georgi Dermendzhiev’s side won all three home group games, scoring seven and conceding zero, meaning the Eagles will fancy their chances of making home advantage count.

Servette meantime featured in a first-ever group phase back in the autumn, but are now aiming to get into the last 16 for the first time in 22 years.

Having drawn in Switzerland, most make Ludogorets favourites to advance at Huvepharma Arena.
