A run of five straight wins on the bounce has seen them climb into second spot, and they are breathing down the necks of table toppers Leicester, with just three points separating them.

The 2-0 victory over Plymouth last weekend was owed much to perseverance as Ipswich had a tricky first 45 minutes, but they upped the intensity in the second half to claim a priceless win.

Bristol City, on the other hand, have faltered in the past few weeks.  A 1-0 reverse at the hands of Cardiff marked their third defeat on the trot, extinguishing any faint playoff hopes they may have had, and they are just six points above the drop zone.

The Robins are desperately in need some cutting-edge up front, however, Scott Twine, who has missed his side’s past seven Championship fixtures with a quad problem, may not be ready in time.

But how will things unfold at Portman Road? I have provided a full match preview and sprinkled a couple of betting tips to add to your slips.

Tractor Boys to roll on

Against Plymouth, the first half was a bit of a toil as Ipswich struggled with the pitch and the high pressing of their opponents.

Nevertheless, Kieran McKenna will have been pleased with the way his side stuck gamely to their principles, and they were richly rewarded for their creativity.

In their recent spate of good form, Ipswich have lashed home 15 goals in their past five Championship outings, and they have been hard to stop.

Intriguingly, when welcoming teams outside of the top five this term, Ipswich haven’t lost in 14 games (W12, D2), averaging a whopping 2.71 goals.

On the other hand, the Robins have won one of only five matches against the breakaway top four, and four of those defeats have been by virtue of a 1-0 scoreline.

Ipswich have been a formidable force at home this term, with their last league defeat at Portman Road coming against Leeds back in August.

To kick things off, I’m going to go with Ipswich to wrap up a victory and to win to nil which is paying out at short odds of 6/4 with Paddy Power.

Kieffer Moore’s remarkable start to continue

Although Kieffer Moore only joined Ipswich in the winter transfer window from Bournemouth on loan, he has already made an invaluable contribution.

His strike against Plymouth took his tally to five goals from seven Championship outings, and the towering striker gives Ipswich a different dimension.

Six goal involvements for Ipswich (five goals and one assist) is an impressive return compared to the four goal involvements across one full Premier League campaign for the Cherries, and it’s fair to suggest Moore will give the Robins plenty to think about.

I think Moore’s rich vein of goalscoring form will continue and I fancy him to bag a double.

If you fancy pursuing this market, bet365 has obliged with a tempting price of 11/1.
