Next East Fife Manager: Four Potential Candidates to Replace Dick Campbell at Bayview

East Fife have parted company with manager Dick Campbell, with his entire backroom team of assistant Ian Campbell, Stuart Malcolm and John Young also leaving New Bayview on the same day.
Campbell, 72, took charge in February 2024 and led the Fifers back into League One via the play-offs, but results had worsened badly this season, with just one win from his last ten league games and a shock Challenge Cup exit to Cumbernauld Colts proving the final straw.
Goalkeeping coach Jim Moffat, alongside senior players Pat Slattery and Brian Easton, have been placed in interim charge while the club runs its search for a permanent successor.
There are currently no football betting sites offering odds on who will be the next East Fife manager, but we've taken a closer look at four names who look like realistic fits for the Bayview hot seat.
Next East Fife Manager - Four Potential Candidates
As East Fife search for a new permanent manager, here at Free Bets, we've picked out four realistic candidates who could step into the Bayview dugout.
Barry Ferguson
Barry Ferguson has been out of work since his interim spell in the Rangers dugout ended in May 2025, a run that included a memorable Europa League win over Fenerbahce.
The former Rangers captain has stayed close to the game in an ambassadorial and media capacity rather than taking another dugout job since, and a move to League One would mark a significant step down in profile but a realistic one given he remains unproven as a permanent, first-team manager.
His name and leadership pedigree would be a notable statement appointment for a club East Fife's size.
Stevie Crawford
Stevie Crawford is a two-time former East Fife manager, having first had a player-manager spell at the club in 2009-10 before returning for a full-time stint between November 2021 and September 2022, when he left to become Dundee United's assistant manager.
He's currently in charge of East of Scotland League side Rosyth, a role he's held since August 2023, giving him an active, present-day managerial record to go with his history at the club.
Crawford's familiarity with East Fife and his track record of getting results there previously could make him an attractive option if the board want someone who already knows the dressing room and the division.
John Potter
John Potter left Hibernian by mutual consent in late September 2026, just three months after rejoining the club, having briefly taken interim charge following David Gray's sacking.
The 46-year-old has deep Fife roots, having spent three years as Raith Rovers' technical director in Kirkcaldy before that spell at Hibs, and he managed Kelty Hearts through the 2022-23 season before that.
Potter was also linked with the East Fife job itself back in 2016, and with his recent exit from Hibs and strong local connections, he looks a realistic and timely option for the Bayview board.
Stevie Farrell
Stevie Farrell is currently manager of Lowland League side Johnstone Burgh, a post he's held since May 2026, and has previous senior experience at both Stranraer and Dumbarton.
His most recent senior role ended at Dumbarton, giving him a working knowledge of League One management, even if his current post is a tier below.
Farrell's mix of lower-league pedigree and an active job would make him a lower-risk option than some of the bigger names being mentioned.
This page will be updated if a frontrunner emerges or a permanent appointment is confirmed.
East Fife's search for a new manager comes before a home game against Alloa Athletic on Saturday 17 October, live at the MGM Timber Bayview Stadium.
