The Kansas City Chiefs are looking for a three-peat but they begin the new season with a tough matchup tonight, as the Baltimore Ravens visit Arrowhead.
Bookmakers have the Chiefs as favourites, and that’s right, given home advantage and, of course, Patrick Mahomes.

But there is likely to be rust around, for both teams, and that could lead to a slow start here, which takes me to the total points market for my first wager.
I think back to the game these two played in the playoffs, where the Chiefs won 17-10, a tight, low scoring affair, and while this will be tight for different reasons, I could see something similar happening.

Across the board, I think the touchdown scorer odds on Chiefs players are a little lower than I would take, but over for the Ravens, I think there’s value with one player in particular.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson has a great run game himself, has Derrick Henry to create confusion and grab coverage, and if there’s a bit of rust around, who better to trust with the ball than yourself?
I could see Jackson running a little more than usual here, and could well cross the goal line for his team.
