Rochdale vs York Tips, Predictions & National League Final Day Odds

Saturday's National League clash at Crown Oil Arena is shaping up to be one of the most significant matches in recent history.
Both Rochdale and York have been excellent throughout the season, racked up over 100 points, but only one of them can take the automatic promotion spot and reach League Two. For the other, it's the uncertainty of the playoffs to try and regroup and make the football league.
Below, for this huge game, I've got three Rochdale vs York tips in what promises to be a cracker, with plenty more eyes than usual on the National League for the final day of the season.
Rochdale vs York Tips
It's important to understand the situation of this game. Rochdale can only be promoted if they win, so despite being the home team, they are the ones with more to do here.
York are away, but are promoted with either a win or a draw, so they don't need to go out and win this game.
When putting together my football betting tips for the clash, I've factored that in.
Tip 1: York to Win
This match is loaded with tension, but before considering that, let's look at the facts first coming into the game.
York have been playing better than Rochdale recently. They come here on the back of five wins in a row, kept a clean sheet in four of them, and have given themselves the advantage of having the draw in their favour here.
For Rochdale, it's three wins, a loss and a draw in their last five. But that doesn't tell the whole story.
Those three wins have come with a 97th minute winner in the first, a 90th minute winner in the second, and most recently, a 99th minute winner last week.
Sometimes its better to be lucky than good, and Rochdale have rode their luck to get here, on more than one occasion.
This is the day I think it runs out.
Expect nerves to take over in the first half, and in the second, Rochdale have no option but to go for it, they are the team that has to win.
That will leave gaps and York, who can stand strong defensively, can also pick them off and bag what I think will be a promotion sealing goal to win this game in the closing stages.
Tip 2: Under 2.5 Total Goals
As I've wrote in my section around York winning this game, I think nerves are going to dictate a lot here.
I don't see Rochdale pushing too hard initially, they'll leave the risk taking for the second half of the game. Of course, York won't do anything silly early, and with a great defensive backbone, there's no need to.
This is a game I see being 0-0 for quite a while, and that all feeds into under 2.5 goals here. I think goals are likely, but not many of them.
Don't forget those York clean sheet, four in their last five games, and they come here knowing a clean sheet will be enough for promotion.
Tip 3: HT Result - Draw, FT Result - York, Under 2.5 Goals
There's no need to make the bet builder anything too adventurous here, just building on the thought process from earlier in the preview, and putting it all together to give us a double figure odds bet for the game.
I'll back a draw at half time, as mentioned, I don't think we see any early goals here.
I fancy York to hold strong, and nick a goal to win the game when Rochdale are pushing hard.
Finally, I don't see three or more goals here, so the under 2.5 selection rounds us off.
