New York Jets Odds: Season Wins - Can They Make History?

Itโs tough to be a great team in the NFL but equally its tough to be an incredibly bad one. The way the NFL sets itself up is for everyone to end up being relatively equal.
Obviously, itโs near impossible for every team to finish the same but constant change in good and bad teams means the system is working.
If you have the worst record in one season it means you get the number one pick in the next years draft.
Speak to a Washington Commanders fan now and they will tell you the system has worked. Years of mediocrity and then they pick Jayden Daniels in 2024, and they become a playoff team.
However, if you donโt pick the right guys then you continue to be stuck in a world of pain. Ask any New York Jets fan and they will tell you that it hasnโt been great for many years now.
New York Jets Odds: Season Total Wins
A handful of betting sites are still offering odds on how many season wins teams will have this season, and the line for the New York Jets odds is currently set at 3.5.
Being mediocre is one thing but going into week eight with an 0-7 record is a whole new level. There have been teams that have not won a game in a season before, but it doesnโt happen often.
In the last 25 years it has only happened twice.
The Detroit Lions in 2008 had a 20-game winless streak that included the whole of a season. The Cleveland Browns had a 19-game winless streak and went 0-16 in 2017. Since the league introduced a 17th game no-one has been winless.
So far, the Jets have lost to the Steelers, Bills, Buccaneers, Dolphins, Cowboys, Broncos and Panthers. Losing to the Steelers, Bills, Buccaneers and Cowboys is not a shocking set of results.
However, a dour game in London against the Broncos was there for the taking. On top of that to only score six points against the Panthers at home is a major concern.
The defence is doing alright but the offence is appalling. This culminated in seeing starting quarterback Justin Fields get benched against the Panthers on Sunday. Tyrod Taylor took his place but wasnโt any better, throwing two interceptions.
When you look at their remaining schedule there should be winnable games but if you canโt score points, how do you win any games? There next four games are against the Bengals, Browns, Patriots and Ravens.
The Bengals, Browns and Patriots all won last weekend. The Ravens will be better once they get Lamar Jackson back from injury. It is completely justifiable that the Jets could be 0-11.
Later in the season they must play the Saints and Dolphins. These could be the games where they get a win or two but itโs tough to have confidence. Now is the time to make a bet before the odds get any shorter.
Currently Paddy Power has a price of 7/4 for the Jets to have under 2.5 regular season wins. This gives you a bit of room if they do manage to get the odd victory.
Itโs unlikely that this team becomes the first team to ever go 0-17. However, the way things are going it wouldnโt be surprising if they did.
