Yes, there are ample recurring promotions. This includes a daily acca boost for football and bet builders winning boosts. I also liked things like Gold Weekend, which featured in an Instagram-style reel at the top of the website, promising more offers across selected weekends, so you won't be twiddling your thumbs!

About William Hill

William Hill is one of the longest-running UK bookmakers. Its origins date back to 1934, and its founder, William Hill, initially focused on postal and telephone betting. The sportsbook launched itself into the stratosphere in 1998, and it became the first company in the UK to plant a digital footprint.

A sports betting behemoth, William Hill is fanatical about horse racing, and it also has a big presence in the US. Bought out in 2022 by Evoke, which owns several reputable betting brands, including Mr Green, William Hill remains central to its portfolio, and it continues to trade under its historic name.

William Hill Review

Betting done properly is the William Hill motto. A part of the UK betting fabric for over 90 years, William Hill has never rested on its laurels. The ownership structure may have changed hands numerous times from the 1970s onwards, but a few things have remained constant.

One of the biggest betting sportsbooks in the UK, battling alongside bet365, Paddy Power, and Ladbrokes, William Hill gets plenty of ad time on TV, and it continues to move the needle.

It has established various high-profile sporting partnerships, putting its name to leading racing meets, and it has a long-term deal with the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL). William Hill also used to be the title sponsor of the PDC World Darts Championship, and it has a rich heritage.

We work with many of the best betting sites in the UK, and that extends to William Hill, so see what they have to offer.

User Experience

From the moment I entered the William Hill sportsbook, I was immediately put at ease. The design may have been a bit bland, but I could scoot over to the markets of my choice with minimal fuss.

With over 30 sports to pick from and hundreds of lines offered per event, I was kept occupied.

Everything was at my fingertips using the William Hill website, and it seemed like no stone was unturned.

Quick links to William Hill's unique eliminator game Final One Standing, where you can win up to £200,000, piqued my interest, and it was one of the more intriguing factors which I will highlight more in a latter section.

Having carried out several tests of the site, there were no glaring performance faults or technical glitches to speak of. The only thing that was slightly concerning was that the sign up process was a little on the slow side, albeit there weren't many stages to it.

One of the redeeming features of the site was the Bet Builder, which stacks up well compared to the likes of BetVictor. Here, you can wager on corners and cards, as well as plenty more options.

App Review & Mobile Site Experience

The William Hill app shone and it contained all the same gems as the main William Hill website. The only thing that was different was the William Hill sign up offer.

The William Hill welcome bonus for the desktop product was £40 in free bets using the promo code G40, while on the app, this was reduced to £30 in free bets with the William Hill promo code R30.

Anyway, I didn't experience any lag with the app, and it felt a little less cluttered compared to the desktop version. The iOS version has been well-received, and William Hill is booted with 2FA and other top-notch security protocols to keep players protected.

Remember, if you want to compare the best mobile betting options, give our betting apps a flick through for inspiration.

Live & In-Play Betting

In-play betting is a critical part of the William Hill experience, and it is buzzing with activity.

All the sports that are live are contained in a banner at the top of the page, and what's great is that some markets have live price boosts. I noticed this with tennis, for example, and odds on a tiebreak, for example, were raised from 5/2 to 3/1, which was worth noting.

The graphics were vibrant and cutting-edge, and this resonated. Apart from a stats section, there was a little commentary area denoted by the speech bubble, so you can see who won each game etc.

Those who sign up to William Hill will know what I mean about how good the in-play betting experience is!

Live Streaming / Other Features

Booted with a robust and reliable live streaming service, you can stream all the biggest UK and Irish horse racing meets through William Hill TV, which was a delight to use.

Any customer who wishes to use William Hill's live streaming platform must have a positive account balance or bet at least £1 on horse racing in the past 24 hours, which is fair and reflective of most other sites.

Apart from horse racing, live streaming is available across a multitude of sports, including football and cricket, and other selected events. In terms of other core features available at William Hill that are worth tapping into are the #YourOdds.

While this can be found at other sites, such as Ladbrokes and Coral, this lets players create personalised bets and puts them in the driving seat. I spotted some unique markets for Bundesliga matches, which included total goals Over and cards combined which were trending.

Away from that, William Hill hasn't taken its eye off the ball with its enhanced odds that are available for the biggest events.

These ranked well alongside the likes of Paddy Power and Betfred, where odds were typically raised from 2/1 to 3/1 or greater.

If you want to keep abreast of the news and latest tips, William Hill runs a podcast, and there is a fully-fledged rolling blog, so you don't miss a beat. Better still, you can get commentary on live races and football games, which puts it on an even keel with bet365.

Football Betting Review

William Hill comes into its own with football betting. No stone is unturned to provide a premium betting experience, and there were plenty of treats.

Usually, there are over 200 lines per match to tuck into, and this includes combo bets, trebles, and more.

Take the upcoming Premier League clash between Fulham and Arsenal, there were tons of player markets to wade in on, and that included enhanced player specials, such as how many shots X player will have on target across the 90 minutes.

Acca boosts, meanwhile, of up to 100% on four or more selections are available, which was enticing. However, the one neat addition to the William Hill operation was Impact Sub. Put simply, if the player you included in a bet builder is brought off, your wager won't suffer. Instead, it rolls over to the substitute that replaces them at the original price, and it covers singles and multiples.

I thought the Cash Out facility was highly effective, and this could be done across multiple devices. Partial cash out, sadly, was a bit more limited. You can, however, use your William Hill Plus card to cash out in-shop bets online which is great. Meanwhile, I could make use of Early Payouts, such as 2Up, so you can cash in early if your chosen team goes 2-0 up at any point.

The maximum payout for football is £2million, but the odds were consistent and competitive. The in-play area did the football coverage justice, and it was packed with stats and eye-catching graphics to thrust players into the heart of the action. William Hill, like other sites, has tons of football odds that are regularly updated, so check them here.

Horse Racing Betting Review

This is perhaps the bread and butter part of the site. The horse racing aspect is extensive, covering all UK and Irish meets daily, and this will be treasured by racing enthusiasts.

Okay, I may not have seen non-runner William Hill betting offers, but there were ample William Hill extra places today. Often, William Hill paid out five places instead of four, and at odds of 1/5. Better still, William Hill combined Best Odds Guaranteed with Extra Places, so take advantage.

The racing coverage, as mentioned, is backed up by a crisp live streaming service, but you can tap into exotic bets to spice things up, such as straight forecasts and reverse forecasts. Oh, and with Racing Post providing a mini preview for each race, you are in safe hands here.

There is little to fault on the racing front. With Best Odds Guaranteed factored in, whereby you can collect better odds if the Starting Price is greater than the original price offered, you will love what you find. The horse racing odds, generally speaking at William Hill, are some of the best I've found.

Rugby Betting Review

In this feature, we ask one of our on-site experts to review William Hill on the sport that most matters to them, so they can detail the pros and cons.

For William Hill, rugby betting expert Scott McGlynn casts his eye over their service.

The William Hill rugby betting section is strong, and the big standout for me comes with try scorer betting. Here you can bet on players to score a try, get two or more, a hat trick, or get specifically the first or last try in almost all games.

While some of these are available elsewhere, few other operators go as deep as this, offering so many different ways in which we can back our favourite players to get on the scoreboard.

Also included for rugby betting is the #YourOdds feature, effectively pre-created multiple bets on the same game, great if you're looking for inspiration with your bets, even for club rugby there is plenty on offer here.

If there was a negative compared to some other brands, this would come with handicap betting. While international rugby has plenty of options, markets are limited for club rugby, much more limited than with some other brands.

For most during this test, there was four available handicap lines for the club matches I checked, but this was closer to double figures with other brands, Paddy Power being the best, that offered 10 different handicap options.

But for choice, pre-created betting options, and certainly try scorer betting, William Hill is excellent for rugby.

William Hill Customer Service

Customer support can be located at the foot of the page, and it is pretty comprehensive. The 24/7 live chat facility is the best port of call where a message box pops up, and I could speak to an agent within a matter of seconds. There were no prompts added; I could ask a question, and my query was dealt with professionally.

I couldn't find a telephone number or email address, so perhaps it ought to lose a few points here. There were no quick links to social media, but you can reach out via X @WilliamHill and send a direct message. Once again, I was impressed as messages were responded to within a few minutes.

Oh, and the FAQs area was brimming with topics, so whether you wish to find out more about the William Hill joining bonus or how to add funds to your account, you will be looked after. Meanwhile, William Hill is an international company, so expect multilingual support for UK and Ireland residents if English isn't your first language.

  • Self-exclusion - If you wish to take a longer break, you can close your account for six months up to five years.
