Charlie heads to Kempton on Wednesday for his best bet
It's a busy day of racing action in the UK and Ireland, and Charlie McCann is here with his exclusive free horse racing tips - only at FreeBets.
5:08pm Musselburgh - Simple Star (Each-Way)
The three-year-old Riddikulus has won two of her last four, although she has yet to prove her stamina for this 1m6f trip, given she was beaten nearly fifteen lengths on her only previous start at the distance. There is the prospect of between 4-6mm of rain on Wednesday morning, which is another concern given further significant rain may place too much emphasis on stamina.
Aighear ran her best race of the campaign when fourth at Hamilton at the beginning of the month and would have got the nod were it not for the fact that she was declared to run at Ayr (1m5f soft) yesterday. Paul Mulrennan – also booked at Ayr – returns to the plate for Jim Goldie, and I will save if she is a late defector at Ayr. She is unlikely to rock up here if successful 24 hours earlier on soft ground.
Significant rain would not help SIMPLE STAR (Each-Way), although he is well handicapped at present and this near 1m6f trip looks his optimum. His previous success came over 12f+ here from a 9lbs lower mark last August, and I thought there was plenty of cut in the ground when he scored over hurdles at Perth last July.
If conditions turn soft – ground good (good to soft in places) on Tuesday morning – then I will swerve but, granted conditions no worse than good to soft, the eight-year-old gets the vote given he ran his best race for his new yard last time over a trip (2m2f) too far.
Recommendation: Simple Star (Each-Way)
5:25pm Catterick - Ina Mina
Sir Mark Prescott's Wardlaw has improved since the application of a hood in recent starts, although he is also compromising his chance by missing the break and forfeiting valuable ground at the start. If he breaks on terms – a bit like Tribal Edge at Goodwood last week – then he is worth supporting in-running. The latter jumped on terms, but slightly out to his left at Goodwood, but his price somehow got bigger.
The vote goes to Irish raider the mare INA MINA, who reverts to the flat having won her last couple over hurdles for Terence O'Brien at Cork and Tramore last month. The five-year-old has only won one of her 20 starts on the flat, but she has taken her jumps form to a new level in recent weeks and gets the vote.
Charlie Johnston's three-year-old Green Area made all to win a three-runner Carlisle Maiden over 10f last time, and this half-sister to the year's Gold Cup winner Subjectivist is bred to appreciate a test of stamina, although I'm not convinced. She has the plum draw for one who likes to lead, but I hope to see Oisin Orr pick up the pieces in the home straight.

7:00pm Kempton - Venetian Lion (Nap)
The Unibet-sponsored 1m Handicap is a belter, but I cannot desert VENETIAN LION (Nap), who dotted up at Pontefract last time when completing his hat-trick despite having the worst of the draw from a 6lbs lower mark.
The three-year-old has yet to win in two starts on the all-weather and has yet to race on polytrack, but he should be unbeaten in four starts since being gelded and fitted with a tongue-tie by William Haggas.
The selection is a half-brother to eight winners, including on a synthetic surface, and he has a terrific draw in stall two, having been posted wide and winning, despite stall nine, in West Yorkshire. The classic generation has won two of the last four renewals of the race, and I will be disappointed if Venetian Lion does not run a big race on polytrack debut.
