The King George is the mid-season high point of the National Hunt racing calendar.

Taking place over three miles at Kempton on Boxing Day, the race has a roll of honour including some of the sport’s greatest names, including legendary grey Desert Orchid, who won the race on four occasions, and the iconic Kauto Star, who gained a record fifth win in the race in 2011.

When & Where is the 2026 King George VI Chase?

The King George VI Chase is an annual race, traditionally run at Kempton on Boxing Day - this year’s King George is scheduled for Thursday, December 26, and the race will be shown live on ITV Racing.

It is the biggest race across Kempton’s Christmas meeting, which also includes the Christmas Hurdle and the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase.

What Happened Last Year?

The 2023 King George VI Chase was a thrilling race won by Hewick at odds of 12/1.

Trained by Shark Hanlon and ridden by Gavin Sheehan, Hewick stayed on powerfully to grab victory despite looking beaten at one point in the race.

Bravemansgame, the 2022 winner, finished 2nd, with the favourite Allaho back in 3rd.
