England World Cup Squad Odds: Anthony Gordon odds slashed after quadruple

February 19, 2026 at 3:00 pm GMT+0

Anthony Gordon appears certain to make England's summer World Cup squad, with four goals in the Champions League on Wednesday night seeing his odds to make the cut shortened.

The Newcastle winger scored all four goals in the first half and hit a 33-minute hat-trick to continue to press his irresistible case to England manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of the summer tournament.

Gordon, having previously been 1/3 with some sports betting sites to be included in England's squad, is now 1/10 with bet365 after his European heroics.

As part of our World Cup betting countdown, Free Bets will be keeping a close eye on the runners and riders for Tuchel's squad.

England World Cup Odds

So if Gordon has one foot on the plane, who are the players he is competing with in his position and what are their chances?

Morgan Rogers

Rogers has established himself as one of Tuchel's favourites since the German took charge of the England national team, and has even kept Jude Bellingham out of the starting XI at times.

Gordon is fighting for a left-wing place, so with Rodgers generally occupying the number 10 spot for England, he is not a direct competitor but Rodgers is one of several players who has also played out wide and offers a genuine option on the left.

Rogers made his debut under Lee Carsley but has 10 of his 12 England caps under Tuchel, and has appeared in every game under the German.

He would appear a dead cert for a squad place alongside Gordon, and is pushing for a place in the XI but faces tough competition from the likes of Bellingham and Cole Palmer.

Marcus Rashford

The odds suggest Rashford has every chance of making it to the USA this summer, but can he and Gordon both make the plane?

The two players offer something very similar. They are both direct, right-footed players who play out on the left and can be considered wide forwards rather than genuine wingers.

Both offer vital pace running beyond Harry Kane, so will Tuchel opt for both of them and be able to interchange them like-for-like during the tournament, or will one of them be sacrificed to make way for a hybrid 10/winger such as Rogers, Foden, Eze or Palmer?

Rashford has been in good form for Barcelone this season and has looked a bit more like the Rashford of old, but his goal return is still down and you suspect he might need some big performances between now and the rest of the season to force Tuchel's hand.

His price will be one to keep an eye on.

Eberechi Eze

It feels as though Eze is at risk of missing out this summer, even if his stock on the international scene has probably never been higher.

He is someone who has been around for a while but it feels like only recently that he has put a marker down, with two goals in the autumn of 2025 including one stunner against Serbia seemingly establishing his spot.

But with his form for Arsenal stuttering and appearances drying up a little bit, he is facing heavy competition for a place in the squad with Cole Palmer in particular a growing threat.

Eze's flexibility may count in his favour, but with Rashford and Gordon ahead of him, Rodgers and Palmer likely to make the cut and then Phil Foden also in the mix, it's hard to see a circumstance in which Eze would actually get a game.

Harvey Barnes

Barnes has been in good form for Newcastle with 10 goals across the Champions League and Premier League this season, but is that enough to push for an inclusion?

He was capped in 2020 - crucially in a friendly - by Gareth Southgate, but he has not had a look-in since then.

It would be a shock if he is near the reckoning this time round with so many other attackers around the English game, but there is still the possibility he could appear at the World Cup.

It has been reported in the last week that he has turned down the opportunity to turn his national allegiance to Scotland in time for the summer, but there's still time for a U-turn if he isn't in Tuchel's plans...

Jack Grealish

It has been a tough couple of years for Grealish, having warmed the bench at Manchester City last season and then losing his England spot.

It looked as though things were turning around at the start of this season with a loan move to Everton resulting in a clamour for his inclusion in the autumn internationals, but a serious injury looks to have robbed him of his chance.

Grealish is likely to be out for the rest of the season with a stress fracture of the foot, and you'd have to think he hasn't done enough to warrant any further thought.
