Leading Contenders
You've seen the latest football betting, but here's a further look at the leading candidates from the next Blackpool manager odds list.
Ian Evatt
Ian Evatt began his managerial career with a caretaker spell at Chesterfield in 2018, then led Barrow to promotion from the National League in 2019โ20, and notably later guided Bolton Wanderers from League Two to League One in 2020โ21, also winning the EFL Trophy in 2023.
His connection to Blackpool is as a long-serving player, he played over 200 games for them and achieved promotions (via playoffs) from League One (2006โ07) and the Championship (2009โ10) during his playing days.
Stephen Dobbie
Dobbieโs managerial/coaching career is relatively limited so far. He managed AFC Fyldeโs U-18s and in 2023 became interim manager of Blackpoolโs first team after Mick McCarthyโs departure, though he could not prevent relegation.
His direct connection to Blackpool is stronger as a player and coach, he had multiple loan spells at Blackpool, contributing in playoff campaigns (notably promotion in 2010), and now holds coaching roles within the club.
Ian Holloway
Hollowayโs managerial career spans multiple clubs. After starting at Bristol Rovers, he had spells at QPR, Plymouth, Leicester, and others. His most celebrated tenure was at Blackpool from 2009 to 2012, where he led them to the Premier League via a play-off final win in 2010.
At Blackpool, he also reached another play-off final in 2012 and maintained competitive consistency in the Championship. A stab at going back to the glory days, is of course why Holloway is being mentioned.
Steve Evans
Steve Evans has a long lower-league managerial career (notably in non-league and lower divisions), earning multiple promotions and managing in the Football League to a high level at many clubs.
He's actually the only one in this list without a Blackpool connection, but is a known name for Blackpool fans to think about.
Charlie Adam
Charlie Adamโs managerial career is just beginning. After retiring as a player, he was appointed head coach of Fleetwood Town in late 2023, though the club were relegated and he was sacked in December 2024.
His link to Blackpool is from his playing career, he had a loan spell there first, then joined permanently, and captained Blackpool during their 2010 play-off victory that earned promotion to the Premier League.
