Liam Rosenior Favourite in Next Chelsea Manager Market
I'm not sure Liam Rosenior is a name that many people expected to see at the top of the betting for the next Chelsea manager, but when you unpack everything, his appointment would make sense in some way.
An interim manager at Derby, where he did well, he was then given the full time job at Hull, and performed very well in the Championship with them.
However, despite that, he was sacked after missing the playoffs, though getting anywhere near the playoffs was seen as a great achievement for the club at the time.
Next came his current role, Strasbourg in Ligue 1, and this is where the Chelsea connections start. Strasbourg are owned by the same ownership group as Chelsea, led by Todd Boehly, and after impressing with the French side, this is why Rosenior is the unlikely name at the head of the betting.
In April 2025, Rosenior signed a new deal with the French side after they reportedly turned down approaches from a number of Premier League clubs in that period.
He would end last season by guiding the club to 7th position, which put them into the Europa Conference League this season, allowing him the chance to showcase his ability on the European stage for the first time.
Next Chelsea Manager Odds: Other Contenders
The football betting market for this job goes much deeper than one man though, here's a look at some of the other contenders who are currently in the betting.
Second favourite for the job is Cesc Fabregas, a player who made his name at Arsenal but also spent five years with Chelsea during a successful period for the club.
As a player, Fabregas won the Premier League twice, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League with Chelsea, and that's what the club is wanting now, so he's definitely someone who has been there and done it all before with them.
But can he do it as a manager? Currently in charge of Serie A side Como, this is his first job, and just like with Rosenior, the step up to managing Chelsea would be a big one for him.
Next in the betting, two current Premier League managers who have proven themselves with smaller clubs in the division, and both look set for a shot at the big time.
Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace) and Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth) are the pair, and if Chelsea put weight on having Premier League managerial experience, then you feel these two would have to come into the equation.
Xavi, formerly of Barcelona and currently out of work, is next in the betting, while Robert De Zerbi rounds off the main contenders. Like Rosenior, he's currently managing in Ligue 1 with Marseille and he also has Premier League experience from his time at Brighton, where he led them to Europe for the first time in the club's history.
