Cameron Toshack
Not listed in the odds with football betting sites at the time of writing, Toshack is a name that many people have instantly turned to online, and he does make a lot of sense.
Seen as someone ready to go into full time management, he's Welsh with strong ties to football in the country, so this makes a lot of sense.
Connections to Swansea and to the PL2 system overall would give him plenty of contacts to try and secure loan signings from higher up the pyramid, an important part of the job for any League Two manager.
I expect he will be added to the betting in due course, but at the moment, he isn't there.
Michael Duff
Go back two seasons, Michael Duff was appointed at Swansea when they were towards the top of the Championship betting for promotion under him.
Disappointment there, followed by more struggles at Huddersfield in League One, his stock has rapidly tumbled over the past 18 months or so.
Duff was a game away from leading Barnsley to the Championship before his Swansea move, and took Cheltenham Town from League Two up into League One on a shoestring budget before that.
Dropping to a smaller League Two side probably isn't on the agenda just yet, but if Newport could convince Duff, he'd definitely be a statement signing, that is for sure.
He leads the betting market, priced up at 5/1.
Gary Monk
Another with some Welsh connection, again through Swansea, Monk played and managed Swansea earlier in his career.
He's been without a job since leaving Cambridge, at the time bottom of League One, a job he took after being away from the game for three years.
Of course, Monk has done a lot more in management before that, and needs to be judged on those things, rather than Cambridge, if you want to call him an option here. But he does bring know how, quality from the past in higher leagues, and can operate well under a small budget.
Second favourite at 6/1, this move into League Two could be what Monk needs to start again.
The Rest
There's plenty of other interesting names amongst the favourites, and here at Free Bets we'll bring you the market moves as they happen in the next Newport manager odds market.
Rob Edwards, Jon Brady, Ian Evatt and Leam Richardson are amongst the names towards the head of the betting, with plenty of experience from higher up the pyramid amongst those managers.
