Next Wrexham Manager Odds: Rob Edwards Favourite as Pressure Builds on Phil Parkinson

Wrexham are facing an important period as pressure grows on Phil Parkinson following a disappointing start to the season.
The Welsh club sit 18th in the Championship after 13 matches, having collected 14 points from three wins, five draws and five defeats.
Their recent form has been a concern, with just one victory since the start of October and three defeats in their last four games, including Friday’s 1-0 loss at Sheffield United.
Parkinson made his frustration clear after the defeat, admitting he did not feel his side had shown “a consistent level of effort and desire every week”.
Journalist Alan Nixon has also reported that the club has set the manager a points target, with Wrexham’s American owners expected to review his position in November if results fail to improve.
However, no decision has been announced, and Parkinson remains in charge at the Racecourse Ground.
Any talk of a change is therefore speculation for now, but the coming weeks could prove significant for the Wrexham boss.
However, BetVictor and other football betting sites have now opened a market on the next permanent Wrexham manager, with Rob Edwards the favourite ahead of Scott Parker and Steve Cooper.

Rob Edwards
Rob Edwards has been available since Wolves dismissed him in June, after he was unable to prevent the club’s relegation from the Premier League following his appointment in November 2025.
The former Wales international has a strong record in the EFL, having guided Luton Town to the Premier League through the 2023 Championship play-offs and won League Two with Forest Green Rovers in 2021-22.
He has spoken about his desire to return to management and has been linked with several Championship vacancies.
Scott Parker
Scott Parker has been out of work since leaving Burnley by mutual consent on 30 April, shortly after the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
He has a proven record of winning promotion from the Championship, achieving the feat with Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley.
His latest success came in 2024-25, when he led the Clarets to promotion with 100 points.
talkSPORT reported in October that Parker was among the names being considered by Wrexham’s hierarchy.
Steve Cooper
Steve Cooper has been without a club since Brøndby dismissed him in May, following their fourth-place finish in the Danish league.
The Welshman guided Nottingham Forest back to the Premier League via the 2022 play-offs and also took Swansea City to the Championship play-off final in 2021.
He previously had a brief spell at Leicester City, leaving in November 2024 after five months in charge.
Cooper began his coaching career in Wrexham’s academy and has reportedly been selective about his next move, favouring a club with a clear long-term project.
Steven Gerrard
Steven Gerrard has not managed since leaving Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq in January 2025 and now works as a TNT Sports pundit.
His managerial highlights include leading Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title in 2020-21, before taking charge of Aston Villa.
TeamTalk and talkSPORT both reported in October that Gerrard would be open to the Wrexham job if it became available, although the Liverpool Echo has suggested a move is far from certain.
Nathan Jones
Nathan Jones is the only candidate in the top five currently in a managerial role, but pressure is mounting at Charlton Athletic.
The Addicks sit 20th on 14 points, level with Wrexham, after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Middlesbrough.
The Welshman guided Charlton to the Championship through the 2025 League One play-offs, beating Leyton Orient at Wembley, and previously took Luton Town from League Two to League One.
However, his spells at Stoke City and Southampton both ended in dismissal within months.
Wrexham host Middlesbrough on Wednesday, kick-off 7:45pm, before a home game against Wolves on Saturday at 12:30pm, and our football betting tips cover both games.
