Since then, it has tried to steal a lead on its rivals by offering a wealth of sports to bet on, and it is renowned for football and in-play betting. User Experience

With its distinctive green and black hue, Mr Luck echoes stylistic elements associated with 247Bet, albeit 247Bet had a clear promotional carousel running at the top detailing the main sports offers. Naturally, there were some comparisons with other AG-owned sites, such as Luckster and mr.play, in terms of layout, and things weren't cluttered.

There were some neat touches to the Mr Luck site that resonated. I liked the slider bar where I could move to different time frames for initiating bets, and I felt at ease. 1-click betting, which I've touched on in more detail later on, expedites things, and I could move swiftly between a plethora of sports markets to find the lines that appealed most.

Mr Luck, like mr.play, was well signposted and I could find my preferred sections within a couple of minutes. One slightly annoying thing was that odds were automatically displayed in decimal format, but if you wish to place a bet using fractional format instead, just toggle the settings button to switch.

I conducted several tests assessing speed and page loading times at Mr Luck, and the site passed with flying colours. There were no glitches or technical deficiencies that can often diminish the desktop experience of sports betting sites.

Okay, not having a live chat facility seems to be a bit of an oversight which has been reflected in the customer support section, but a few more ongoing offers wouldn't have gone amiss either. Having just a sign-up offer seems scant reward for keen bettors.

App Review & Mobile Site Experience

The mobile betting experience is an essential part of the wagering experience. Mr Luck does itself justice with a mobile browser that is smooth and devoid of glitches. On one occasion, I did notice empty sports markets when I loaded the odd page; however, such occurrences were rare. The mobile browser replicated the desktop experience with many of the same cornerstones, such as favourites, meaning you can pin a team or market before making a bet.

Early Payout (EP) deals, such as 2UP, which is treasured at other sites, such as Betfred and Paddy Power, covers both desktop and mobile betting at Mr Luck, and that was pleasing.

Other than that, there was the same depth and breadth of sports markets on the app as the desktop product. This was illustrated with NFL, and the app was also highly functional. While I haven't seen many reviews published to date, it will no doubt hold sway over time with iOS and Android users, given Mr Luck is a modern and versatile site.

Don't forget about the swathe of specials either at Mr Luck. Although these straddle across politics and non-sporting events, I could place a wager on whether Nigel Farage will be the UK's next Prime Minister or who will win the most seats at the next General Election. This section was plugged with outrights, and it compared favourably with William Hill , who are renowned for delving into specials.

Live & In-Play Betting

In-play betting is where Mr Luck struts its stuff. A hive of activity, some sports carried well over 100 lines for live markets. You can cash out your bet either in its entirety or partially, and it's refreshing to see how vibrant this section is. Take tennis, for example, you can find a plethora of odds covering set betting, correct score, and point winner, so plenty for me to get my teeth stuck into.

Features-wise, Mr Luck's in-play package draws comparisons with that of QuinnBet. More accurately put, it is a carbon copy with a bar containing head-to-heads, stats, and standings. The graphics are quite glitzy, and it will keep you absorbed when you make a bet in real-time.

In the meantime, there are over 30 sports to wager on, which is impressive. Niche sports, such as beach volleyball, biathlon, and ski jumping are afforded some coverage, but be aware that lines will be more readily available for the biggest competitions.

More generally speaking, 1-click betting is great as it gives you flexibility over bets placed. Think of it more as an automated system, so you can tick the odds changes box if you wish to accept higher or lower odds, and set your own default amount per bet.

Aside from that, a constant swathe of boosts are available, although they aren't as tasty as the ones available at Kwiff or QuinnBet, for example. Nevertheless, for some NBA markets, odds were stretched from 213/20 to 12/1, so I can have few qualms about that.

Live Streaming / Other Features

When you sign up for Mr Luck, be aware that live streaming is limited to horse racing and greyhounds. Well, to be more precise, I noticed for horse racing, it wasn't available across all UK races. You will need to log in to gain access to the live stream, but there was no mention of needing to have placed a bet in the past 24 hours to enjoy the privilege. Anyway, I will get to horse racing in a later section.

Football Betting Review

Mr Luck and football betting marry up nicely. Apart from a broad range of markets posted for Premier League games, usually 80+, there were invariably odds boosts and acca boosts to get excited about. The football odds displayed were competitive, but they weren't as amazing as more established operators, such as bet365 or BetVictor.

That said, the bet builder feature was highly intuitive. I could compile a smorgasbord of lines, such as Over/Under goals per side, first half totals, winning margins, and more for big upcoming Premier League games, such as Arsenal vs Tottenham. May I also point out I was a big fan of the match combos which I've become accustomed to at new sites such as QuickBet where you can wager on Double Chance and BTTS.

Other than that, I enjoyed the in-play side of things at Mr Luck. I could tap into key turning points, and the neat graphical display will ensure you don't miss a beat if you are on the move. The only thing I would like to see moving forward is newer features, such as Sub On Player On, like at bet365, but I guess, you'll just have to watch this space!

Horse Racing Betting Review

While Mr Luck has tried to be expansive in its coverage of horse racing, I think it has fallen a bit short with advertising UK horse racing markets. On certain days, I could only see a few races posted, and not all races were live-streamed. Mr Luck, it appears, were more concerned with ensuring punters could bet on meets in South Africa, Chile, or anywhere else in the world.

Forget about Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) as they don't exist at MrLuck. This is a big shame as they give punters the option to claim a bigger win if the Starting Price (SP) was greater than the original odds offered. In fact, there are no horse racing promotions to speak of at Mr Luck which seems a bit of a shame as other sites, such as Paddy Power will offer free bets if your horse finishes second or third to the SP favourite. Extra places were also omitted at MrLuck, so I think it needs to up its game to convince horse racing enthusiasts to sign up.

That said, the horse racing odds provided were decent; it just needs to extend its promo offering and serve up more lines than just forecast betting.

Cricket Betting Review

Considering it is such a new betting site, I had a pretty open mind when looking at Mr Luck for the first time, and I don’t hate what I saw.

My immediate thought is that the layout of the website and UX isn’t to my taste, but that’s the same across sports and not just cricket, and we’re here to look a bit closer at cricket specifically.

It is quite a curious mix of events that you can bet on. At the time of writing, it appears that I can bet on almost any game that is in-play at this very moment (the option is for a women’s Inter-Zonal T20 game, which is niche to say the least), but that’s it.

Again at the time of writing, there are Sheffield Shield matches ongoing and a Test match between Ireland and Bangladesh, and the fact neither of those games show up when they are technically in-play is disappointing.

You can get markets for major T20 leagues such as the Big Bash, the SA20 and the IPL, as well as pre-series odds for most international series, including the Ashes.

So as far as match coverage is concerned, I think compared to competitors there is work to be done, but let’s have a look at the markets.

Looking at the Ashes in particular, there is a good range of individual player markets available. Whether it’s most runs, most wickets, player vs player, there is plenty there and with plenty of variation - so not just focused on the obvious players like Joe Root or Steve Smith.

I usually use Paddy Power or Ladbrokes as the standard-bearers when it comes to cricket betting, as they provide really good price boosts and pre-made bet builders, and there is none of that with MrLuck.

I think it’s pretty clear that cricket isn’t their expertise, so it’s probably not somewhere I’ll be coming back to for cricket betting.

Mr Luck claims it sticks to its philosophy of CARE (Customers Are Really Everything); however, I don't believe that to be the case. Yes, Mr Luck says it is available 24/7, but its main source of communication is email. I could also get in touch by sending a message, and granted, replies were dealt with swiftly.

However, not having a live chat service is a big miss, and it dropped quite a few points here. As I've often found out when using other sports betting operators, a live chat facility can target any pain points and rectify issues whenever they arise. Okay, there is also an extensive FAQs and multilingual support is available for UK and Irish users. Mr Luck doesn't have much presence on social media, which is also a bit disappointing.
