South Korea vs Czech Republic Tips, World Cup Predictions & Odds
Scott McGlynn

South Korea and Czechia will both target strong starts when they lock horns in their World Cup Group A encounter in the early hours of Friday morning in Mexico.
Although on paper, Group A appears one of the weakest, South Korea will hope to emulate their exploits of 2002, where they reached the semi-final. For Czechia, however, trips to the World Cup Finals have been few and far between in recent times.
How will things pan out? We’ve divulged a few tasty betting tips and World Cup free bets to gorge on ahead of kick-off.
South Korea vs Czech Republic Tips
Here are our top three World Cup betting tips and the best free bets ahead of the second game of the tournament.
Tip 1: Czech Republic to win
Czechia will end a 20-year exile from football’s biggest extravaganza this summer, and they will hope to make an immediate splash.
Although they endured a nerve-jangling journey to reach the World Cup, Czechia’s system is built on pragmatism. Miroslav Koubek, who will be the oldest manager at the 2026 World Cup (74), rarely deviates from a 3-4-1-2 formation, and his side oscillates from a mid-block to a deep low-block.
South Korea coach Hong Myung-Bo, who captained his country in their incredible 2002 run, has been a lightning rod for criticism lately. More worryingly, South Korea possesses the lowest win rate of any country (18.4%) to have played at least 30 games.
I don’t expect this to be a classic by any stretch of the imagination, but Czechia’s physicality might prove too much for South Korea. Although South Korea are slight favourites with bookies, I’m siding with Czechia to bag three points.
Tip 2: Patrik Schick (Anytime Scorer)
Patrik Schick is not immune to making a big impact at a major international tournament. His five goals at Euro 2020, which included a stunning strike against Scotland encompassed this, and he was joint-top scorer alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
During World Cup qualifying, Schick rattled home four times, and while this tournament will be new terrain for him, I think Schick will ask serious questions of the South Korea rearguard.
The Bayer Leverkusen forward is a focal point of the Czechia attack, and South Korea will need a game plan to contain him. However, for my second tip, I’m leaning into Schick to score at any point across the 90 minutes.
Tip 3: Czechia Most Shots on Target, Patrik Schick (Anytime Scorer), Over 4.5 cards
To kick off my bet builder, I don’t think Czechia will be daunted by the occasion. They could well be more creative in and around the penalty area, chalking up more shots on target.
Schick has proved in the past to be a man for the big occasion, and having netted in a pre-World Cup friendly against Guatemala, he could slot home against South Korea.
I’ve rounded things off with this to be a tetchy game. Over 4.5 cards could be worth tapping into to bump up the bet builder price slightly.
