From title contenders to rising stars, we've lined up Clinton’s insights alongside some of the top football betting offers ahead of a busy weekend of action.

So, as the new campaign gets underway, here’s what Clinton had to say when speaking exclusively to Free Bets.

Predictions

Q: Some quickfire predictions: who’s going to win each league? Let’s start with League Two, which kicks off this weekend.

“You’re putting me on the spot. I’ll say Chesterfield.”

Q: League One?

“Luton Town”

Q: The Championship?

“Ipswich. Can’t look past them. Great manager. Birmingham 2nd.”

Q:  And finally—early days—but Premier League winners?

“Liverpool”

Alexander Isak and Liverpool

Q: Can anyone stop Liverpool this season?

“You always say that about Arsenal and City, and I think Chelsea will be in the mix too. But we can’t really say until the window’s shut. If Liverpool get Isak—no one’s stopping them.

Isak, Ekitike, Wirtz, and you forget about Salah—he’s still one of the best players in the world. Liverpool’s attack would be frightening. They’re my favorites, but I don’t think it’ll be as easy as last season.”

Q: There’s a lot of noise around the Alexander Isak saga. If Liverpool were to sign him and make it club-record signing, breaking the previous club record deal for Florian Wirtz only a few weeks ago, where would this rank in terms of the best summer window ever?

“Yeah, it’d be high up there for sure. They’ve signed Ekitike and Wirtz—Wirtz is a fantastic footballer. But if they get Isak, it’s one of Liverpool’s best windows ever, without a shadow of a doubt.

"Those three are top-quality players. We don’t know loads about Ekitike yet—he hasn’t played in the Premier League—but he’s scored goals for fun in Germany. Wirtz is a special player, by the way. Top player and a fantastic signing.

"And Isak—superstar. Proven in the Premier League. His ability is second to none. That’d be a fantastic signing.

Before even mentioning Frimpong and Kerkez—who was brilliant last season with Bournemouth —this would probably be Liverpool’s best window ever.”

Q: If you had to make a prediction—will he stay or go?

“Oof, tough one. The longer it goes, the more I think Liverpool might get him.

“I’ve just read what everyone else has—rumours of contact between his agent and the club, and that personal terms are agreed. Which is crazy, since he’s still a Newcastle player.

“But it’s hard to know. Right now, I’m 50/50. I thought when they got Ekitike, that was it. But maybe not—maybe Isak was always their number one.

“The window shuts September 1st. Could go down to the wire.

“If Newcastle bring in two strikers—Sesko and Wissa—then 100% Isak will go. You can’t have three strikers of that quality at the same time. So yeah—watch this space. This could be the big late-window deal.”

Q: Given that it’ll likely take a club-record deal to land Isak - reports mentioning anywhere between £120 million to £150 million - how much would a prime Clinton Morrison at the peak of his powers go for in today’s market?

“In today’s market? I’d say £60–70 million. I’d take that! Everyone wants goalscorers and strikers, don’t they? So yeah, £60 million—I’d be happy with that. Once someone buys me for that, I'll retire and live on the beach!”

“But yeah, if Liverpool want Isak, you’re talking £120–150 million. Newcastle don’t need to sell—he’s got three years left on his deal. So they can make it difficult: “Pay £140–150 million.”

“But Liverpool just sold Luis Díaz—they’re selling players and have money to spend. They’re giving it a real go this season.”

Evan Ferguson to Roma

Q: What do you make of Evan Ferguson's move to Roma?

“I think it's a great move for Evan Ferguson. I think he needed that move. He went on loan to West Ham and it didn’t really work out for him. But I actually do think it's a brilliant move for him. It's something he needed to do. He needs to play football. Remember, he burst onto the scene in the Premier League scoring a lot of goals. People were talking about him as being the next best thing. Then it got disappointing. He had a few injuries, and I think that’s what he needs to get over.

“But I think going to Roma is brilliant. He’ll have to hit the ground running. It’s a culture shock, Italian football. It’s a difficult place. If it’s not going well, he has to cope with it. But the move for him is fantastic. He wasn’t going to get much game time at Brighton. Ideally, we’d have wanted him to stay in the Premier League, but going to a huge club like Roma—I think it’s brilliant for him.

Q: Can he take inspiration from the recent successes of players, such as Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour?

“Yes, exactly. That's what I'm trying to say. You look at McTominay—fans at Man United didn't really give him credit. He ended up being Napoli's best player last season. He was outstanding. That’s how football can change. Man United fans wish they still had him at the club.”

Birmingham City

Q: Looking at some exciting developments with your former club, Birmingham City, do you think they’ll push for promotion next season?

“That's a great question. I was asked this last season. The club is really ambitious—Wagner, Tom Brady—they’ve spent well in this window. They’ll be there, but teams will be gunning for them.

“I still think Ipswich are the main team under McKenna—they’ve got the best manager in my opinion. But the Championship is wide open. I think Birmingham have the potential to finish in the top six. They’ve signed some really good players—players who could play at a higher level. Like Kyogo Furuhashi—look at the goals he scores. Man City were looking at him not long ago.”
